An interesting ride on the 227 on Sunday afternoon. Very busy between Crystal Palace and Beckenham, not helped by the 354 only operating Mon-Sat.
Beckenham Road Tram Stop was busy for obvious reasons, being the closest to Penge, however the 12min service offered by the Sunday timetable isn't adequate cosnidering it's the main trunk route serving Penge and Beckenham to Bromley.

One of my most used routes ! It's a lot better since the CItaro's took over. Much more space and they are lovely buses. The 227 is much more reliable than the 358 and more direct so it naturally forms the trunk route from the North of the borough and the middle. You quite rightly mention the 354. With the 352, these routes penetrate areas of Bromley borough that are miles from anywhere, like Ravensbourne, New Beckenham and the area of Beckenham known as Clock House. The 354 serves Crystal Palace park , Penge West Station , the 352 serves the Sydenham sainsburys and new shopping development at Bell Green, railway stations at New Beckenham, Lower Sydenham, near West Wickham, near Beckenham Junction and Bromley North & South, yet NEITHER of them have Sunday services, which in my opinion is outrageous and suggests utter complacency with the London Borough of Bromley, who are just anti bus and pro car.

I haven't rode the route for a few years until Sunday, however the Citaro seats are very comfortable with generous room for wheelchairs and buggies.

You say that as if there was an issue with the SPD's affecting the route. The SPD's were not subbed a lot and the route was reliable as it is now. Well yes but the citaros are a huge improvement though. They are faster and don't vibrate a lot, that's all.
