In Wellingborough Souls operate local route W4.Usually they use an ex Stagecoach Solo but now & again they use a Mercedes mini bus SF59***.I noticed the other day that this is a step entrance bus, surely a 59 reg should be stepless entry or has this bus been re registered?

It all depends on what the Mercedes is certified as in its COIF. If it is a Sprinter or a Vito then its high likely its certified as a minibus or mini coach. Don't quote me on this but I believe a vehicles seating capacity has a lot to do with what it is certified as. A local coach company to me has a full sized coach that has an operating base and all the other stuff to go with it yet the bloke also has a 10 or a 12 seat minibus that he can park on the road and doesn't not require to have an operating base but does need all the other stuff that goes with an O license.

Funny enough, The Mercedes Sprinter is not available as Low floor, so it doesn't matter what the reg is, it will continue to be Step entrance, They can have ramps fitted to them so they are DDA ok AFAIK
