Lots states double deckers are going onto the route I stated this a few weeks back Agreed but I see that today's updated LOTS weekly news says that DWs from route 38 will convert route 66. That's a slight surprise given the speculation about a mini cascade to send VLAs to GY garage.

Whilst I have no doubt that what you implied will happen ... there are also a similar number of Mk1 redundant DWs at TC.

Fair comment - the context of the LOTS report is the cascade of ex route 38 buses but it is not fully specific about which DWs when referring to route 66 which leaves open the option of older first gen DWs possibly being in scope.

The sooner the better this route is ridiculous in the peaks I'd hate to drive it people up to the windscreen on a 50mph a road. If TfL wanted it single deck I'm surprised it was never specified to use big busses like the mercs on the 227 or is leyton stone too tight?

If 09,59 or 10 plate DW's are allocated then they can be used for an existing tender bid in 2017 whereas 05,55 reg VLA will be too old for a new tender so pushing Arriva costs up. Perhaps Monday paid for type training outweighs this.

I think the route should even be moved to DX as Leytonstone to Grays is way too far.

If that happens, I'll definitely be going to ride the 66 lol.

Perhaps Monday paid for type training outweighs this. That is a fair argument but it could easily be applied to any 'red' Arriva route currently operating pre 55-reg deckers

I think the route should even be moved to DX as Leytonstone to Grays is way too far. I'm sure the drivers wouldn't like that, Grays run the route well and it's been fine for a number of years

Not so sure it would be those numbered DWs that will be the first to go at TC ... Looking at LVF there appears to be a batch in the mid twenties to early thirties that are seeing little use.

I think if you read the whole paragraph it is clear they mean redundant DWs from the 38.
'By last weekend, the LTs for Arriva routes 38/N38 were all in stock and all were in service. A somewhat protracted cascade of DWs started to transfer to South Croydon where their last DLAs are now gone, as well as to Brixton and Tottenham. Other redundant DWs are due to convert route 66 to double-deck.'

That's true, just me doing my usual presuming of oldest moving out first loool.
