Interesting Romford chat, here's some changes I'd like to see. 1. Vehicles for 165 and 365 swapped, 365 just doesn't get enough patronage for DD. 2. 365 rerouted via Hornchurch town centre, Station Lane, Suttons Ave,back to Abbs Cross Lane, and extended to Rainham Interchange, giving night service to Hornchurch and deeper into Rainham, DD used on nights. Two way service in Orchard Village. 3. N86 withdrawn, 86 to run Romford to Stratford 24 hours. 4. 174 to be 24 hours. 5. 498 to be rerouted, to turn off Main Rd, run via Balgores Lane to provide link to Gidea Park station, then as 496 back to Main Rd. 6. Either 165 or 370 to be rerouted at Drill roundabout, to run Balgores Lane, Gidea Park Station, Brentwood Rd back to Drill roundabout to continue route creating link between Slewins Lane and station. 7. 193 to rerouted to run via Park Lane, creating a direct link Brentwood Rd and Roneo Corner.

I'm bored so here's a route I made up for the fun of it. This would also support the increased number of bus services that are proposed to serve the Royal Marsden Hospital in Belmont:
Fantasy Route S2: Carshalton Beeches Station to Langley Vale Estate
(*) Major bus stops and/ or terminus points
Carshalton Beeches Station* Carshalton Beeches Central* Staplehurst Road Crossways West Way Pine Walk Downs Road/ Banstead Road South Royal Marsden Hospital* Royal Marsden Hospital/ Downs Road Highdown Road Banstead Downs Grange Gardens Croydon Lane Salisbury Road Winkworth Road/ Bolters Lane Castleton Drive Banstead Library* Garratts Lane The Drive The Beacon School Tattenham Way Great Tattenhams/ St Marks Road Tattenham Corner Station* Tattenham Corner* Tattenham Corner Road Ashley Road/ The Derby Arms Epsom Cemetery Downs Hill Road Ashley Road (alight here for the Ashley Centre and Epsom Town Centre)* Elmslie Close Epsom Hospital* Dorking Road/ Epsom Common Hail & Ride Section - Farm Lane (note: this goes past City of London Freemen's School) Hail & Ride Section - Langley Vale Road Langley Vale/ Beaconsfield Road*
Contract awarded to RATP (Quality Line) with 6 Enviro 200MMCs (9.7m - SDE class) PVR: 5 buses Frequency: Every 30 minutes Mon-Sat/ No service on Sundays
Although this would never happen, it would be beneficial in bringing new links to previously isolated schools, as well as adding a new service to the Royal Marsden Hospital, alongside a new bus service to Carshalton Beeches which is left otherwise only served by the S3 and the 6tph from Carshalton Beeches (the 154 and S4 are nearby but not very close). This proposal would also bring a new connection to Langley Vale, a small housing estate within no reach of any stations or bus services.

Langley Vale does have a bus service in the shape of the E5 - only 8 journeys a day but that's probably the best you can expect in that part of the world.

It could conceivably be a commercial route or Surrey CC contract on a reduced frequency (probably hourly and no evening service) if it lost the section between Royal Marsden Hospital and Carshalton Beeches and took over the Langley Vale section of the E5.

I understand that route P4 is only one not service at Peckham. However it should be better off with new number route like '334'? I think this one poo this route P4.

If the route were to be changed significantly it might warrant a new number, but I don't agree with renumbering purely for the sake of it. The route has been the P4 ever since it was created in the early 1970s as a minibus route with FS Ford Transits and that is the number passengers recognise.

I seem waste of my time for this forum.

Personally I think prefix letters should be confined to local networks like Orpington or Uxbridge but to change the long established P4 number when the route itself isn't being changed is likely confuse passengers as happened when the old 77A was renumbered 87 for example.

Given its a time of cuts at the moment, it certainly wouldn’t make any sense financially to change the number given you’d be changing the timetables, bus stop tiles & maps not to mention the internal documents as well. Even then & as someone living near the P4, I don’t see why the number or any other prefix number would need to be changed.

Driver...................Yes I go the same way as the 77A.
Passenger..............So why has the number changed?

The 343 was once the P3. The 381 was once P11. P4’s survived this long it wouldn’t need a change.

This would have helped me out when I needed to get home from Tattenham Corner with a Monthly Bus Pass on an Oyster Card, and had to trek it out to the closest 166 stop.
