Its been a busy few months for new double decker launches - ADL Enviro400 MMC, Optare Metrodecker and now Wright Streetdeck.
For me in terms of design and street appeal Optare's Metrodecker wins hands down. Its easily the prettiest of the three designs.
ADL can't be too pleased with all the competition. So many new launches within months of each other.

I've never like East Lancs deckers (except the Scania K92s that Grey Green had), and to me, the Metrodecker has a lot of East Lancs design influence to it. Personally, I love the E400MMC, and the Gemini 3 is slowly growing on me

So many new launches within months of each other. I suspect no one in the industry is too surprised. There has been loads of pressure for lighter buses and the emission changes mean chassis changes which, in turn, mean bodywork updates. The only two rogue models are the much delayed Metrodecker which could, in theory, have materialised at any point in the last 4 years plus the Streetdeck following the demise of a compliant VDL double deck chassis for the UK market. The big prize is for whoever gets Stagecoach's orders for inter urban / provincial double deckers - Scania have done immensely well here for years but no longer have a euro6 diesel chassis. It might all revert to ADL E400 MMCs but I guess Stagecoach like powerful buses on their interurban routes which can keep time. I don't know if there is an obvious successor model for that role. The massive surprise for me is the success, outside of London, of the Streetlite Max micro hybrid single decker. Wrightbus must be delighted with that.

I'm glad the Streetlite has done well in general given all the stick it got and still gets to this day - it's has a lovely ride and despite cramming in all the seats, there is still enough adequate legroom. I think Stagecoach will replace Scania with Volvo and have B5TL's on Enviro 400 bodies for the interurban routes.

The MetroDecker does look good, especially next to the Wright MeToo Integral (that's it's pre-production name ) the only criticism is the funny little window at the back and lack of Voith gearbox option, though Optare can change this easy enough. E400 MMC is an obvious evolution of a successful design, wheras I thought the StreetDeck is such a paradigm shift it's taken us off-guard from the usual new-set-of-LED-lights-will-do product refreshes to the original Gemini design... when we see the real thing in London (cue for Arriva's Fleet dept to buy some new stuff) I am sure the shock factor will wear off The Streetlite will share the same Daimler engine for Euro6, so the Max versions for Arriva outside London or for First Group will continue to sell like hot cakes The demise of the SB200 hasn't been too much of an issue, though I will miss the sound of that Cummins being thrashed to smithereens in the majority of Arriva YouTube videos

I am sure the gemini 3 & street deck was only announced last year, so why change the design again and the thing has only just really started production?

I guess it was just a new Volvo B5TL / B5LH chassis for the Gemini2 with some snazzy new lights at the front... I thought the windows at the top didn't suit it, though, but was shocked when Stagecoach ordered a few for the 53... I imagine it will continue, the same way the Hybrid E400 will be made alongside the MMC for a while Seeing the new E200 will be good - I wonder if Arriva will ever get DW411 back?

I may regret saying this lol, is that the more I see the pictures of the restyled Wright StreetDeck I am starting to like it. Although IMO it won't beat the new ADL Enviro400 MMC lol.

Difference, the streetdeck is an integral, the Gemini 3 a body placed on certain chassis. Why the integral needs a different style, who knows but that is the difference.

I guess artist impressions always look slightly bolder than the real thing in the flesh - hopefully the camera won't lie when Buses mag covers it and the Expo on November 20 when the December issue comes out... I had another look at the bus and it's okay... even the MetroDecker is okay... Wright have been cautious, they have recently started a Mortgage business in Isleworth ... ... just in case StreetDeck sales are a little slow to start off with

Taken from buses magazine on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/busesmagazine) - Wrightbus has released its first images of the new front and slightly restyled rear of its double-deck StreetDeck integral and Gemini 3 body. The complete vehicles will be at Euro Bus Expo and the first StreetDeck order has been announced from Brighton & Hove, for 25. All this and a great deal more will be described in detail in December BUSES, on sale 20 November. Maybe you ought to read that!

It's striking that's for sure but a bit too angular for my liking, it could've been more streamlined. It's alright though. Perhaps Greater Angular will buy them for their Rail Replacement fleet... (gets coat) Very blocky design, looks like Gemini 3S' Halloween costume... a very different bus will be unveiled at the Expo, I hope... Apparently First Yorkshire are buying them too... I'm sure Arriva will follow suit, along with Stagecoach as it's Voith I may need counselling snoggle, what's with all the glass at the side, and in some of the pictures, what appears to be a sunroof on the upper deck? Coming to think of it it does look like it's wearing a Halloween mask, the front resembles a somewhat spooky face, like a scarier Gemini 3 . So I would say it's very relevant for this time of year!, and perhaps wrap it in Black and Orange to promote something that's actually relevant

However I read the article differently that the restyle was for the StreetDeck only but rereading that is clearly not the case. PS loose the attitude, my response was very polite, unlike yours.
