I just read on londonbusroutes.net that Route 76 is going to be extended to Tottenham Hale Bus Station and will be a 24-hour route on the 8th November. What do you guys think?

I think the day route extension is a sensible move. Tottenham Hale has a growing population of young renters and students with work/study ties to central London so a direct bus link strikes me as a good idea. I think others on the group have made the suggestion of extending it further, along Watermead Way to IKEA to take some weight off the 192, which could only be a good thing.
I can't comment on how well used the 'top' end of N76 is, but four night buses an hour along Lansdowne Road to NPK always struck me as a bit of an oversupply. I rarely saw a bus on the N76 or 341 carrying more than a handful of passengers north of Bruce Grove. I can imagine Old Street (for Shoreditch etc)/Dalston to Tottenham Hale (for the student digs etc) getting a respectable level of use with the new night service at weekends.

I've been to Tottenham Hale before, and I think it would be great to have 76's company at the new bus station. Good link for those coming from Stoke Newington or Stamford Hill who want to shop at the nearby retail park or head to Stratford with the train.

However I think one of the reasons for creating it is the way in which TfL have altered Tottenham High Rd / Tottenham Green making it much more difficult to get buses out of the Green area. The bus station provides a dedicated place to terminate the buses but I do think all the stand capacity will be used up on day 1. The old bus station was very small but just about worked. The new one is bigger but I can see situations where there are buses on all the stands for terminating services meaning it will be very hard if a 123 or 230 gets a turn at Tottenham Hale and has to stand time. I can't see where they'll do it without jamming up bus stops. I think the bus station traffic lights are what are causing the huge jams on Forest Rd back to Blackhorse Road.

I haven't physically seen the new bus station in action, but I can picture your scenario. That won't be good for buses leaving on time.

I'm speculating about the crowding - we'll know from next weekend when it opens. The traffic lights are already switched on and working as if buses were going in and out and we're getting the jams now. If the phases get longer then the jams will grow.
