I received the following email from TFL
I am writing to let you know that from Saturday 8 November, the following bus routes will be running more frequently in order to meet increased customer demand: • Route 149, which runs between Edmonton Green and London Bridge • Route 243, which runs between Wood Green and Waterloo On Friday nights/Saturday mornings and Saturday nights/Sunday mornings, buses will now run every 15 minutes.

Only trouble is I have changed locals on a Friday night - so still a drunken crawl home for me! If only there was a N123/24hr 123

So in 15 years the Kingsland Road has gone from 1 night bus an hour on a Fri/Sat night (N243) to.. 4 each on the 149, 242 and 243 = 12bph, a twelvefold increase. Is there any other corridor that can match that for growth?

Don't forget the N38 every 6 minutes plus the 277 every 30 mins plus the N76 twice an hour although the first two go east - west at Dalston. I think Shoreditch has seen quite a step up lately with more buses on the N26, N35, 205 and N55 and the N8 isn't exactly infrequent either. Clearly the 149 and 243 just add to the expansion there too. I haven't done any analysis but I suspect there are several corridors that have seen a fair bit of expansion over 15 years. Despute this, though, there are some corridors which are very overloaded - N15 out to Romford, 25 to Ilford, Bayswater / Uxbridge Road routes (94, N207, 390). Some of the SE London routes are also horribly oversubscribed (N21, N47, N89) and some have been doubled at weekends - 12, 453. That just based on what I see from doing my night bus snaps - so a small sample.

15 years ago, the Brixton Hill corridor had just the old N109 which I think was every 30 minutes at the time - fast forward to 2014 and it has the 24 hour 159 (every 30 mins), the 24 hour 250 (every 30 mins), the N109 (every 20 mins) & the N133 (every 20 mins).

It's a shame TfL don't do 'With Flow' night buses
