Yesterday at Mile End I realised the cameras on the end of the Eastbound District Platform had been decommissioned with pieces of paper saying "OPO equipment no longer in use" but isn't ATO on the SSR still quite a few years away?

Do you mean the monitors? S stock, along with the other modern stocks, has screens in the cab so those on the platforms can now be decommissioned and removed. In some cases this will allow an extra door to open where the screens previously obstructed that part of the platform.

I usually don't go to the far end of the platform to notice these things

Reductions on the Piccadilly line because two trains have been converted to Rail Adhesion Trains. Slight reduction in Uxbridge branch services ie 1 train less an hour with other services retimed a few minutes earlier /later (2x3 car units have been converted to a temporary rail adhesion train) Night tube frequency is because of a lack of train operators and the length of time it will take to fully restock the night tube train operators

Reductions on the Piccadilly line because two trains have been converted to Rail Adhesion Trains. Why would they have not saved some of the Victoria line stock to do this instead of converting actual service passenger trains that would be needed, very silly of them to do this imo. Backward thinking.

Backward thinking. I believe the conversions are only temporary? By chance is that 72 stock tube still sitting within the tunnels of the old Aldwych branch. If so could that not have been used?

Backward thinking. they have been installed in such a way when the leaf fall season is over they will be reconfigured back to passenger use until next years leaf fall timetable kicks in the ex vic line stock would have needed reconfiguring and thus would cost more as it would be non standard on the picc

Why would they have not saved some of the Victoria line stock to do this instead of converting actual service passenger trains that would be needed, very silly of them to do this imo. Backward thinking. They did keep Vic Line trains back for another use but that ended in failure. Possibly a track recording vehicle but my memory's rusty. As others have said the Picc Line thing is a simple conversion of existing stock. Basically a hole in the floor and a temporary sand hopper and dispenser wheeled in to stand over the hole. Clearly after last year's "flat wheels" debacle no one is taking any chances and they've gone for the quick and simple option. I think in past years the Picc has never needed a RAT to run but obviously something has changed. Unfortunately the official report into last year's mess has never emerged so we don't know what the root causes are - is it the trains being old? new drivers being unfamiliar with the stock and line? track wear? poor vegetation control? All sorts of things may have caused it but the public aren't told despite the horrific delays they suffered for months. Let's hope that whoever is designing the "new Picc Line" has been kept in the loop with all the issues so they can be designed out of the upgrade.

The report is on TfL website, I remembered seeing it couple of months ago, but it is long and I only skimmed it. Has some black pen redactions of contact details etc content.tfl.gov.uk/piccadilly-line-leaf-fall-report.pdf

A stock 5111 reported yesterday out on RAT duties along the Wembley Park to Uxbridge section of the Met. Hopefully it's a daily occurrence throughout the season as a friend of mine loves the A stock.

I hope nobody minds me asking, but what are Rail Adhesion trains? What is their function?
Still got a lot to learn about trains
