Fantasy Idea: Bus routes Transfer Scheme

As I had been noticing, that there are disadvantages for people to exchange bus routes for short distances , and max cap at 4.40 is too much to afford for some citizens, therefore i suggest a "Bus routes Transfer Scheme", is when a route changes to a specific route, the 2nd leg is free, similar to the bus routes in Hong Kong (I did some research on some bus routes in HK and as a example, Route 92 <--> 40 will be cheaper by 2-3 dollars etc.) 

So For this thread, we will make up our own Bus routes Transfer Scheme and share which routes should have them, to provide a better efficiency.  

To start off, My 1st idea for this is circulating around the route 131 (Kingston <--> Tooting Broadway) and 72 (East Acton <--> Roehampton)

Hong Kong's bus network has a different structure to that in London which allows a more targeted location based transfer scheme. There are logical places where people may swap between airport, express, trunk and local services or between E-W and N-S routes.

I don't think the same structured approach will work in London. People dive off buses when they see the bus they want pulling up behind. Sometimes people change at the first stop on an overlap of routes and sometimes at the last stop before routes diverge. Depending on who you believe there is or is not a demand for transfer fares (either a free transfer or a discounted transfer) in London. The campaign for transfer or 1 hour bus tickets has been droning on for years in London and we simply don't have the spare money sloshing round to fund a scheme (estimates range between £50m - £70m per annum). I am not convinced about the value of transfer tickets in London between buses given fares are low in comparison to many places outside London and we have a relatively low daily cap on a vast network. If we had £70m "spare" I'd rather see more and better services provided or a lot more Countdown signs installed to help people use the network.

The more logical transfer scheme for London is to offer a transfer discount for bus or tram to rail / DLR / tube journeys. This recognises the connected nature of the bus and rail networks for people to make their full journeys.

Personally I like the Carnet schemes you get ten tickets typically and are allowed one transfer within an hour of the first journey.
