It may interest forum members to know that there exists the very real possibility that some, if not all, of the 246 service on the next two Sundays will be worked by double deckers. The route has been cleared by TfL for double deck operation and the opportunity to put this into practice has come up for the next two Sundays
A rota change in the coming weeks will see a small amount of interworking between the 246 and the 638 and this is the reason for the double deck operation being cleared for the 246. I'm told the double deckers being used will be from the 61 batch of E400s ie 19131-19140

Thank you all! Are we thinking that this would be cost-effective? There must be significant cost-savings in cross-working to carry all of this additional fresh air all day.

When the 246 terminates at Westerham, where do the buses go to turn around? They seem to disappear off into the countryside for ages, but looking at a map there's no obvious point where a driver would take a break or turn the bus around.

They stand in the car park for Quebec House - after the 246 terminates at The Green bus stop, it runs down Vicarage Hill and stands in the car park. There's no flag pole which could be why you didn't see it. Before I did the 246 a year ago, I couldn't find it on google maps but after getting a 246 to Westerham, I followed the bus instead lol.
