Seems there is still a battle royal going on in the neighbourhood around Blythe Road and having a bus service. I'm surprised there is much opposition, the Blythe Road area isn't the most, shall we say, high-end area of Kensington. The roads look suitable for a single deck route though perhaps bus length and frequency could be a gripe, especially with some of the turns and parked vehicles. Does this area need a bus every 9-13 mins off peak and every 8-9 minutes peak? I suppose TfL would want fixed bus stops as well, they want all stops fully accessible so inevitably car parking spaces would be lost.

Personally I'd just extend something like the 419 via Blythe Road to Shepherds Bush / White City. 4 tph peak and 2 tph eve / Sun is a modest service level but reasonably decent and the 419 is not exactly overtaxed as a route anyway. Clearly at the north end of Blythe Rd where there are one way streets and some elements of traffic calming that's where the trouble is from residents. I think it's a real missed opportunity for a lot of people and the longer it goes on the more entrenched the car owning resistance will become. You see that all the time in Outer London and it drives me nuts - so selfish. In one of my more evil movements I'd like to see all the car owners who object to bus extensions be deprived of their vehicles and also be given temporary impairments so they can't walk very far or very quickly and to also have their ability to get lifts and use minicabs limited to one return trip a week. Then they'd appreciate the position of those without cars that their vocal opposition deprives of mobility and access to shops and other facilites. It's not all about "vandals, thieves and vibration", it's about your neighbours being able to live decent lives. In short "see how the other half lives". Many of these outer London residential areas don't have many local shops or amenities so access to public transport is essential for people to function.

Many of these outer London residential areas don't have many local shops or amenities so access to public transport is essential for people to function. I've not quite understood the "me, me, me" element, before the 272 came here it was irritating to decide where to walk to, either The Vale or Bath Road to catch a bus in Shepherd's Bush. The fact that I had a wealth of choice once I was at either is irrelevant, I'm fit and active but we have many residents who are elderly and frail, handicapped etc. If it's annoying for someone like me to have to walk I cannot imagine their anguish. I may not own so don't fully comprehend the 'asset' side of the objections but where car parking is concerned I've experienced few issues with buses using the narrow Emlyn and Larden Roads, even in traffic calming areas. If I park away from here it's because I don't trust the idiot drivers rat running through or contractors, the bus drivers do and excellent job in what are tough conditions at times. I'm sure rat running and large delivery vehicles etc are what Blythe residents should be more concerned about! The Blythe area has larger roads than many 'back roads' and a lot of it will be one-way for the proposed routeing so can't really see how buses would cause problems here in terms of conflict. I only really see an issue in terms of fixed bus stops... there isn't much doubt for me looking at these roads that TfL will prefer these as opposed to hail and ride as placement opportunities clearly exist. Who knows what they'll do, if they use C1 they should probably look at extending bus lane hours with yet another high-frequency route serving the north end of Shepherds Bush Road, the turnout from Dewhurst Road will already be gruelling for northbound trips too. Having a bus like 419 isn't a bad idea, since it's a bit of a round-the-houses, hoppa like service anyway (a bit like 440 perhaps and that works okay)
