First post so apologies if it's in the wrong place or already been covered as I have looked
Every evening this week I've seen WVL83 (roof intact) 935 (single door) and a pvl with a dot matrix display on the 21.
Sometimes the display says "special service" with a laminated 21 in the window other times it says "lewisham 21".
Anyone know why they are being used?

There are rail works going on between London Bridge and Lewisham. Therefore extra buses have been put onto the 21, 47, and 381.

Thanks for the reply. Was curious as it was a weird site seeing them.

Does anyone have the timings for the extra PM peak departures on the 21 and 47? With the clocks going forward photography in the late afternoon becomes a little bit more viable.
Also where do the buses start from at London Bridge? on the bridge, at the bus station or on Tooley St / Borough High St after London Bridge itself?

I think the 47's start at 16:00 on London Bridge it self, running every 10 mins. The 21's when I saw them a few weeks ago appeared from all over the place and didn't really have a designated stop so had no real passengers.

The reason for asking about the 21 was that I saw some Flickr photos dated from a couple of days ago. I confess I thought both the 21 and 47 extras had stopped running as so little has been said about them after the initial flurry of interest. Are the Manchester Tridents still on the 47 or have they been replaced by surplus London Tridents?

The Manchester Tridents came off last month, and were replaced by Tridents make surplus from the 55's LT conversion.

Are the Manchester Tridents still on the 47 or have they been replaced by surplus London Tridents? The 47 is now all London Tridents, the March Stagecoach fleet card indicated 17530, 17556, 17557, 17873, 17875, 17876, 17877, 17905, 17906 are for 15/47 extra, three of these have been in use on the 15 including 17905 which has been running around showing a blank black front destination blind. However from next week they will all be available for 47. I also believe they are being supplemented by six older reserve tridents (17441, 17466, 17505, 17559, 17574, 17794)

The 21 extras are still running as they run dead through Brixton every day to start at London Bridge. Seen at least one Omnidekka, a PVL and one of the open top WVL's passing through.

The 21 extras operate from 4 garages. 2 buses from BX 2 buses from C 2 buses from RA 4 buses from Q All buses are commercial buses except RA which use 2 MEC's made surplus by the EB's.
They run London Bridge to Lewisham only in the evening peak, running light back to London Bridge between trips. They work 3 trips per duty if I remember.

The first stop for the extras is actually Duke Street Hill, they spin round via St Thomas St and stainer St
