Totally agree. They had the nerve to call a table! What a joke!
Im not sure where they are extracting the data from but it's still confusing how the bus is leaving an hour early in some cases. I would like to keep track if this problem and know if / how fast it is resolved.
It took me a few mins to understand the info. Whilst it appears to be 1 hour early it isn't. The times they are quoting include hours, mins and seconds. The bus is due 00:01:00 means 00:01 and 0 seconds. This matches the timetable which has the last trip at 00:01 from goodmayes towards ilford. The data supplied shows most trips 1-4 mins early.
This comes down to the main issue. Do you vary the running time every evening giving less Sunday and more Saturday, which is hard for the public to remember or leave a uniform timetable which people can understand?
I would guess the days with most early departures are Sunday to Wednesday but don't plan on assessing the data!
I've had a quick look at the data having got it into a spreadsheet. On the assumption I've done it properly your guess is sort of right but there isn't a fully consistent pattern. M-W are the days with the highest risk of early running with Th-Sun somewhat less prone. Only one bus is spot on time with a few later than 0001. However most are early with one being almost 5 mins (!) early.
Personally I'd rather have consistent times every day of the week. There will always be variation that's inevitable but we are still talking about the LAST BUS. If that journey was being properly managed and supervised then the variation would be far less than it is, albeit from a smallish sample size. I wonder if the performance regime properly incentivises the timely operation of last buses and whether the monitoring of that journey is sufficiently robust and at all stops to make sure the bus runs on time or late rather than early.
