Jeremy Clarkson is an idiot but the show wouldn't be the same without him. The allegations haven't been confirmed but if they are then he's screwed. I just hope that the last few episodes are shown, with or without him. Yes and if Jeremy does get the boot or decides to resign then i can see all 3 of the Top Gear presenters going over to another channel doing the same thing but no doubt under a different name. This week's episode looked quite good, i prefer the episodes where they do challenges/funny things rather than car reviews but thats my opinion Richard Hammond does have a BBC exclusive deal, I'm not sure when it expires.

All three presenters were days away from signing new three year deals so I'd imagine all three deals were running out very shortly. I know Clarksons deal ran out next month or the month after.

I read in one of the heavies that it could cost the BBC millions. There are countries across the globe who take the programme 'live' and then do local voice overs/sub titles. If the last three programmes are pulled............"You do the maths"

Top Gear is big bucks, so Cohen and his luvvies best sort this mess out pronto. Still the fracas has really got people talking - there's now '#jesuisclarkson' for goodness' sake I think it really must be a quiet news day. Surely there's more important things happening in the world? I mean, some of these tabloids are really going to town

Lord Hall will make the announcement in the morning at 10am. Clarkson gone.
Telegraph either had an official leak or have broken the press embargo.

Seems the BBC have announced in the last few minutes Jeremy Clarkson has been sacked

Yep, the announcement was pushed back due to developments on the tragic air crash story.
I think they've done the right thing on balance. Most of us would lose our jobs if we did the same thing.

I understand why the BBC sacked him completely but it will be a sad loss for the program. Looking on twitter James May has now put 'Former TV Presenter' which may suggest he is retiring and Richard Hammond tweeted 'Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We're all three of us idiots in our different ways but it's been an incredible ride together.'

The papers are all over this, as expected TBH May and Hammond are not renewing their contract, leaving the BBC in the poop... I guess new presenters (please not Stephen Fry) are due...

Riots may start now... TBH May and Hammond are not renewing their contract, leaving the BBC in the poop... Hardly an important issue is it? They're all worth millions, they'll keep earning money from past series, DVDs etc. They've all got other jobs and shows and if Top Gear dies they'll invent something else. AFAIK they've only been sacked / resigned from Top Gear so hardly an end to the TV careers. As someone else has remarked previous "naughty boys" at the BBC (J Ross, R Brand) have quietly returned to the BBC and no one complained. Clarkson will end up on Sky cos his mate Mr Murdoch will ensure he's looked after. If I'd thumped someone at work I'd have been kicked out immediately. No one is saying Clarkson didn't thump the other person so therefore he's guilty and he has to face the consequences. No individual is above the rules on stuff like this. I note that morons on Twitter are threatening the victim with death threats and physical violence. Over a TV show? I haven't watched Top Gear for eons so I've not bovvered anyway.

oh well prepare for the license fee to go up as they have got to recoup the £50 million a year they may have lost in worldwide rights from some where.

Although I think Clarkson should of been kept on, the people inciting violence to the producer involved is wholly wrong and indefensible - he is a human being after all.

Although I think Clarkson should of been kept on, the people inciting violence to the producer involved is wholly wrong and indefensible - he is a human being after all. You really can't keep employees in place when they physically and verbally abuse a colleague. If you thumped someone at work or swore at a customer you'd surely lose your job? It'd not just be an appalling precedent, a bad example and discriminatory to keep someone employed it's also pretty dodgy when it comes to the law. No one's got the right to thump somebody for no reason. Given what the BBC apparently "tolerated" during the 70s and 80s with respect to child abuse by its employees we really can't expect to see tolerance to be exercised these days. And yes child abuse is worse than thumping someone in the face but at the principle level they're both illegal.

The reason i didnt sign the petition was because if any one of us did that in the workplace we would be sacked and i didnt find it right. As much as i love Top Gear i wouldnt sign it for that reason.
All these people stating they wont pay their license fee because Clarkson was sacked is a bit of a joke, yes the BBC doesnt really make any interesting new tv programmes and Top Gear was the best thing for a lot of people but they are being a bit drastic.
I really hope Clarkson, May and Hammond do another version on another tv channel but i have a feeling that wont happen....
