Although I think Clarkson should of been kept on, the people inciting violence to the producer involved is wholly wrong and indefensible - he is a human being after all. You really can't keep employees in place when they physically and verbally abuse a colleague. If you thumped someone at work or swore at a customer you'd surely lose your job? It'd not just be an appalling precedent, a bad example and discriminatory to keep someone employed it's also pretty dodgy when it comes to the law. No one's got the right to thump somebody for no reason. Given what the BBC apparently "tolerated" during the 70s and 80s with respect to child abuse by its employees we really can't expect to see tolerance to be exercised these days. And yes child abuse is worse than thumping someone in the face but at the principle level they're both illegal. I wasn't saying that Clarkson was right, just that the violence against the producer on the internet is wholly inappropriate. Anyway, I do think there is more to the story then has been revealed so far.

Bearing in mind he was already on a final warning?

"Ai up lads lets go after him, might do our promotion chances some good."

I thought it was standard practice in these sorts of cases for the Police to wait for investigations etc to conclude before they look at the case for a criminal offence / possible prosecution. It avoids the internal investigation being "prejudiced". Similar things happen if people incriminate themselves while giving evidence as a defendant (e.g Nigella Lawson). I suspect it might be a tad different where the individual is well known and in the media spotlight as Clarkson is. If you or I had the same thing I think the police and any HR investigation / disciplinary process would run in parallel rather than in sequence.

You said it! we'd be out on our ear and in court a long time ago. Should be interesting to see how 'Yorky plods' carry on with this

Nothing will happen with the Plod... it's just bluster and conjecture. Will N Yorks Police spend fuel, resources time (and paperwork, police hate paperwork) to travel to West London to interview someone over a 'scrap'? Yes it was a punch, but no more substantial than what happens in Romford on a Saturday night... And the CPS may not even be bothered even if N Yorks Police wanted to push for a prosecution unless they spice it up with Section 5 Public Order for his abusive language It doesn't justify what Clarkson did, and justice has been served in that he lost his job for hitting a colleague. Top Gear will now unravel like a Tesco sweater, methinks...

I suppose it depends if the producer wishes to press charges, he may not seeing as Jeremy got the sack but who knows.
There was a new article today saying Jeremy, James and Andy Wilman have had a secret meeting but then on the other hand James has been saying things to the press about possibly leaving TV completely

I really hope it's reformed again somewhere and somehow, this can't be the sudden end of a show that has been airing for over 10 years.

They could all move to channel 4, 5, Dave, etc calling the new show Kickdown. lol

Destroying a 235 Caetano Dart or a caravan every other week might wear thin after a while though so they'll have to be inventive

Sorry Yorky plods no visits to London for you. What bets the trio now go to Sky/C4 or anyone who will pay them. I'd love to know what the Beeb will say to all those countries where its syndicated
