I vaguely remember travelling on a BendyBus on the 12 long, long before I even liked buses. 2007, I think. We got on at Elephant & Castle to get to a place near Peckham. The person who I was travelling made sure we took the 12, as we sneaked on at the back. They logically would suit the 507 and 521 of course, but they took them away. Seems more logical than normal single-deckers with ridiculous frequencies. +1 for the 108, that would be a good idea but might be hard to navigate in the tunnels. Also BorisWatch is a motley crew of extremely boring pedants. That is all. Slightly off topic, but as you mentioned the 12, I have memories of getting on in Peckham aboard an open top Leyland Titan! I'm sure one of our members must have a pic of this bus! There was also a metrobus on the 67 from SF that was for Leaside Travel that was used that had the middle door removed and headrests installed on seats!

Oh man a tour of the some of the sights of the borough of Southwark. Sounds fun! ...or a bit awful though if it was peak time, you're on the top deck of that 12... and it suddenly starts pouring down with rain

The only open top Titan I can think of is T512 but I don't know if it ran on the 12. There were several Leaside Travel Metrobuses - here's one on the 34 but it's not the souped up one. I can't remember which one it was but I can remember seeing it. Centrewest ran open top RMC1510 on the 7 on its last day of RM operation and it rained that day - I know because I got soaked trying to photograph it!

The 'funny' Leaside Metrobus I always think of was M1253 - that had the backlit Leaside swans installed either side of the front blinds and an internal refurb in line with Leaside Travel spec but it saw out its working life on E's 'workaday' routes. Think it had Leaside Travel colours (Red version) at one time but was definitely in Arriva horns by the end. Def recall it appearing on the 279 and 149. Def also recall it appearing more than once hired by my school to go to Clacton! Stagecoach got quite adventurous with its 15 runout towards the last few years of crew operation - at least one open-topper, an RMC(?) in Green Line colours could be seen on summer days.

T512 may have went out as an open topper on East London routes in the silver red livery it wore. Blue Triangle took it out on running days such as the Bow centenary celebration.

The 436 was nicknamed the "Four Free Six" for a reason.

That RMC was a regular PM peak bus on the 23, mostly in summer, but it did sometimes venture out in the depths of winter too. Moz
