Save pennies and you will up the swanny(or a dead end)

I saw a delivery lorry stuck down there just a few days prior to this incident. It was there for ages trying to turn around.

Save pennies and you will up the swanny(or a dead end) Exactly, I can bet any money that the lorries I've met today down the lanes on the 464 are following a car satnav, as a lorry one would not send you down a country lane to save 3 miles on your journey.

I certainly wouldn't rely on a sat nav if I were driving a bus, coach or lorry, I'm not a great fan of them anyway although they do have their uses.

This might sound a daft question but why do buses generally carry on after initially striking the bridge? surely the driver must hear the almighty band when the bus hits the bridge?
