The plans to change the proposed redevelopment of the North Greenwich peninsula are currently open for comment on Greenwich Council's website. The proposals are for enormous developments with many high rise blocks, shops, a hotel plus some supporting infrastructure like a new transport interchange and schools. There are a lot of documents to get through and I wouldn't recommend it. However you can dip into a few things. 853 blog articleGreenwich Council planning application database and use the reference number 15/0716/O Once in the list of 195 (eek!) documents then look at the a) Design and Access Statement - b) Parts 1, 3 and 6 of the Transport Assessment - this includes the views from TfL about some of the key issues and concerns plus some plans of where the new bus interchange will be. The key feature in transport terms is an expanded bus station which will be oriented east to west rather than the current layout. It will be larger but if they get the design wrong there will be little scope for expansion given it will be hemmed in by buildings and will also be built over from what I can tell. TfL are insisting the busway remains but it will be moved west to allow the park to be bigger and to remove the awkward "kink" in the junction layout near the station. There is also talk of a bus route solely serving the peninsula itself to add capacity for short local trips so longer distance routes are not so overloaded at peak times. I do wonder, even with a 36tph Jubilee Line service, whether the transport infrastructure can cope with the impact of such massive development.
