13 from Golder Green Bus Station to Golders Green Bus Station - This was years ago when the 13 had Routemasters. The 13 leaves the bus station with passengers on it and then goes back into the Bus station drops the passengers off and then leaves. Lol how can this be possible why on earth would the driver go back the opposite way to the bus station again? I have no idea. I also saw a Tower Transit VN on the 266 towards Brent Cross leave Hammersmith Lower Bus Station packed to rim with passengers go round the roundabout and go back into Hammersmith Lower Bus Station then drop the passengers then bus just stood their all night.

I've done a light from Lewisham Station to the Rock in Lewisham then back in service back to Lewisham Station I also done similar when I had to run light on the 152 from Pollards Hill to Eastfields and then go in service back to Pollards Hill. The shortest turn I seen is on the 88 running from Clapham Common going towards Stockwell.

Yes but I am talking about this specific turn, not all others. I am aware about the points to short turns. If the bus was only traveling for 2 stops passengers wouldn't really have a benefit apart from going on those 2 stops, otherwise they could have gotten on another bus, something TFL should have looked into before sending a bus for a 5 minute or less journey. I understand if the bus needed to go back to the garage or if there was a problem with the bus but unless so it could have been scheduled for at least a longer journey. I don't understand your point I'm afraid. Short turns, whether they are for 2 bus stops or 22 bus stops, are done to cover mileage, plug gaps elsewhere on the route and/or can also be done due to the working hours of that particular driver. If that 476 turn meets just one of the criteria above, then it can't be pointless. But many of the passengers would be inconvenienced as a result, obviously they would read the destination before getting on. Also, as drivers won't expect anyone to get on for a 2 stop journey, is covering a tiny bit of mileage worth the hassle of being in service?

If you don't want to lose money, than yes, certainly is worth the hassle IMO.

The majority of passengers from harts lane only travel to barking station. 2 stops. You may not always understand the point of it but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. If you don't want to lose money, than yes, certainly is worth the hassle IMO. Lol fair enough in that respect

I remember a few years back there was an accident on Lodge Lane in New Addington and the 130 I was on ran from New Addington to New Addington, via Fieldway

When BX had the 469's I do remember doing a BX shopping centre to BX Mayplace road where the changeover point was, then going light into the garage as my relief driver was a late meal relief.
Didn't even pick anyone up apart from a fellow driver. Would say it was a rare sight to see a 469 leaving the shopping centre showing Bexleyheath Garage....

Mileage and money in the bank for the operator is what matters not the traveling public. 358 to green street green from orpington station That was probably due to no relief driver on a changeover rather than late running...
