Apple Pay will be coming to the UK in July, letting iPhone and Apple Watch users pay for goods - and transport in London - with a tap. More Details ...

Still no support for railcard discounts presumably? Potentially useful for many but I think I'll sit it out for now!

More Details ...I knew this was going to happen eventually that Apple Pay would become another way to pay for buses since when the iPhone 6 came out, but i am looking forward to seeing people tapping their iPhones on buses

However I'm struggling with the Oyster Card vs Saver ticket issue. OK you need to pay a smallish deposit to obtain an Oyster card but it gives you access to considerable fare savings compared to cash (on rail). Ok they're compulsory for bus travel given no cash fares but I don't see that many regular users struggling with the concept of using an Oyster Card. Using a Saver ticket still requires an upfront cash payment as does an Oyster Card. (Savers are still valid for use and TfL sell inbulk to organisations who want them and TfL also send them out as compensation for poor customer service.)
