Is it also true that when it get's busy controllers can't seem to connect one to one to buses and have to do route group calls ? [/quote] Not quite but during the busiest times of the day (morning and evening peaks) the system can get quite saturated and it can take some time to connect individual radio calls, so controllers may use group or route calls to contact buses, especially if they want to talk to a few buses, they can usually then do then in one call. Unfortunately when ibus was introduced not enough digital frequencies were available so the radio element utilises a combination of licensed PMR (analogue) and occasionally GSM voice call frequencies, hence the radio system quality can degrade when it's under more strain. So I suspect the TFL specification for any new radio package would therefore specify they have to use full digital multiplexed radio frequencies.

I'm somewhat disappointed you still feel that way towards your controllers. I could go on and explain the different methods of service control and delay mitigation controllers employ, particularly on occasions where heavy delays are being experienced (i e when the Blackwall Tunnel gets closed), but I won't as I think I've said enough really to get my point across and that's from a both a drivers and controllers perspective.. If I could add my opinion I fully sympathize with the way drivers feel but also understand controllers are under pressure to ensure routes run smoothly. But my memories when I was a London bus driver is the way I was spoken too and treated by and I'm sure some controllers and those at centrecomm think bus drivers are idiots. I came to accept that as normal. It's only now in my present job as a train driver that I see how bad things were. I'm sure my service controller and the Signaller are under just as much pressure as a bus controller to ensure things run smoothly yet I don't get any of the sarcasm or speaking down to I used to get as a bus driver. This applies equally when I have to deal with the engineers. Yet both jobs are similar in that we are both drivers so why the apparent difference in treatment ?
