The prices are now on the TfL single fare finder
The journey il normally do when im going on holiday is East Croydon to Gatwick, and with my 16-25 railcard loaded onto it comes in at £2.00 single which is cheaper then a paper ticket.

Saw a staff briefing regards to this today it states that Redhill and Gatwick etc.. Are not in the zones and there is no zonal extension planned at present. Also states that some oyster fares will it be cheaper than paper tickets. The most strange thing is that it says you need a minimum of £20 credit for Oyster to be valid at the newly included stations. Un-tapped out journeys will be charged the daily rate of £19.80. No oyster top up available from on train crew. In addition not says you will be charged two singles and not a return fare if a return journey is made. It continues that if travelling outside the oyster area you would be better off buying a paper ticket for the whole journey. Season tickets are not able to be applied and freedom pass holders are still bound to the boundary zone (Coulsdon South). Finally (!) and surprisingly Reigate is not included.
I would have uploaded just the attachment but am messaging from my phone.

Some initial take up numbers from TfL for journeys to Gatwick Airport have been published by London Travelwatch. Looks like it's gaining in popularity.

I hope I haven't posted my query on the wrong thread, if I have then I apologise, is there any news or updates about Welwyn Garden City, Hertford North and Luton Airport Parkway being included in the Oyster card empire?

All quiet on that front at Govia, the most that's happening in terms of ticketing is stations like Hornsey, Cricklewood, Alexandra Palace, Enfield Chase, Palmers Green are being gated up.

Oyster to stations between Elstree & Borehamwood to Luton Airport Parkway hopefully should happening by the end of 2016 but there have been questions about also including Luton Station as its 2 minutes away and also for the University Students and that Luton people may all flood to Parkway Station to benefit from using Oyster

This article from the Oyster Rail website explains why. The project to move Oyster to the "back room black box" seems to have gone very quiet of late but then it's a massive piece of work including whatever decisions TfL take about migrating the card population from "old" to "new" Oyster at some point in the future.

Hopefully it's sorted soon so that all "London" Airports accept Oyster
