Anyone on here remember the disaster that was the plan to build a super garage at Chadwell Heath to replace North Street,Barking & Seven Kings, they even got as far as putting CH code on all these garages buses. It all fell through when the land that they had designated for the garage was found to be contaminated, someone not doing their homework.

I recall. I also recall a near done plan to open a garage in Hampton Wick on a former gas works site. That was to be coded HW !

I remember the Titans on the old 87 having CH codes, years ago (this was before the route had it's eastern section from Romford covered by the 374)... I'm just looking forward to the modern day Garage Fiasco about to happen in Brentford... Metroline have commissioned famous American architect Dr Seuss to design a bus garage near the Great West Road with a car showroom on it's roof, complete with other dwellings for residents (buy to let / shared ownership)

Lol

I remember the CH codes on 147s around 1993. What was the rush with the garage codes before the garage was even built? I seem to remember it took ages for the original codes to return too.

I seem to remember that the CH codes hung around for a while. Possibly until Stagecoach took over. I'd left London by then but remember my delight at seeing a Titan on the 169 with the BK code back where it should be.
The CH plan seemed crazy to me. At the time I couldn't work out why they didn't just extend BK over the disused Barking Abbey tennis courts at the back. Perhaps they have since then.

You sure this isn't an album cover for a new Yes album? Lol I'm getting more than a hint of ELP and Tarkus I can't wait till it's built...car showroom on the top of a bus garage... just madness. Hounslow Council are in advanced talks to go ahead with this... RATP will store it's buses in that structure to the left that looks like a wasp's nest, allowing the Council to finally knock down AV, whilst Metroline will occupy the garage underneath the showroom
