Went to see the new Bond film this afternoon at our whizzy new cinema in E17. How odd that there is no staffed ticket window at all - just like a tube station. Still I haven't been to the cinema in about 15 years so I'm no doubt way behind the times. Nearly had the entire cinema to myself - about 5 other people in there. Thought the film was reasonable but not one of the best Bond films and I've watched all of them several times (I'm a bit of a fan). The chap playing the arch villain was decently creepy and subtly psychotic but not as laugh out loud bonkers as in Skyfall where the interplay with Bond was really good. Odd to see the "standard appearance of a NB4L in a Bond film" involved a 15 apparently running over Westminster Bridge on its way to Trafalgar Square. Bizarre to make such an elementary error given several valid NB4L routes cross that bridge. Also a brief starring role for a E40H on the 88. Perhaps it will be better on a subsequent viewing (on DVD) but I doubt I'll be going back to the cinema to see it.

The main villain in this film didn't have enough screen time. It was nice that for the first time the bond films were linked and actually continued on from the last but I still felt it didn't live up to the hype. The villain in the last one was absolutely great!
I spotted the 15 aswell, that's a lengthy diversion! The trademark appearance of the 88 in many movies over Vauxhall bridge continues but at least it was the right company this time.

In fact Quantum of Solace was also a continuation of Casino Royale. I've seen this film too and to add my two pence worth.. This film by itself is a very good action film with a good plot and some excellent stunts and good performances from the actors. As a comparison to other Bond films, will leave some fans mildly disappointed. That's doesn't mean that this is rubbish, it isn't and is a pretty good Bond film. I guess because Skyfall was so good, Spectre had a lot to live upto, it did a good just not at the level of Skyfall. I also felt that this was pretty much a carbon copy of Skyfall in terms of plot sequences. I felt Christoph Waltz' character didn't get enough screen time. I'm not going to go hacking at plot details for those that haven't seen it. I'm a huge Bond fan so was excited to see this film, as I have been since I've been old enough to go cinema and watch it. Roger Moore is my favourite Bond and as a consequence A View To A Kill is my favourite one.

I'm a huge Bond fan so was excited to see this film, as I have been since I've been old enough to go cinema and watch it. Roger Moore is my favourite Bond and as a consequence A View To A Kill is my favourite one. Well Roger Moore was about 65 when he did View to a Kill so he's not exactly doing fisty cuffs in A View to a Kill but I do like the film. Christopher Walken as Max Zorin is completely bonkers and a psycho "you amuse me Mr Bond" "It's not mutual". He delights in killing his workforce in the mine and doesn't give a sh*t about anything than power. Plus you have the marvellous Patrick McNee as Tibbett and Grace Jones as Mayday. Great stuff. Not sure I have a favourite overall but Goldfinger [1], Live and Let Die, View to a Kill, Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies [2] are all decent. I even like Quantum of Solace even though it has been panned by just about everyone - I love the bit in the Opera House in Bregenz. The music is sublime. The other clip that gives me the shivers is the Shanghai sequence in Skyfall - firstly because the vista is stunning and then the fight scene in the skyscraper gives me the wobbles because of the height. [1] "No, Mr Bond I expect you to die" [2] "Mr Stamper would you please kill those b*st*ards". "Elliot I have some late breaking news for you" cue drill head squashing Mr Carver to death.

Enjoyed 'Skyfall' but just couldn't really focus as I kept thinking that the villain was/is Keith Lemon!

I'm not the biggest Bond fan out there (seen some of the movies but not all) but my mum is and I said I'd treat her to it at the cinema sometime in the next few weeks so if anyone is interested to hear thoughts from a non Bond fan, then I'll write them up at the time.
