Hi,
Just wondering if anyone here has had any issues trading / selling consoles in CEX?
I tried to sell a Xbox 360 today - they asked me to go in a hour so they could test it. When I returned I was told they can't except it as the console has been banned?
If a console has a ban on it how comes I can still use Xbox gold, make purchases, play on-line ect? I am aware you can get a account suspension but never herd of a console being locked.

This page may be helpful www.xbox.com/en-GB/consolebanIf it still lets you on Xbox Live maybe they made a mistake and you should try another store.

Yep I see that a bit earlier - was just a bit miffed as the shop was packed and they made me look a idiot. Might try GAME - the console is only worth about £30.00 tops - I sold them my 250gb Xbox hard drive for £17.00.

I don't use Cex for anything anymore after a series of bad encounters, including being sold devices which were a lower capacity than displayed, selling me games which were cracked or unreadable, or just general rudeness from their staff.

I used to work at a CEX, the whole company is a shambles to be honest. There were days when we just switched electricals on to see if they powered up and then bought them. Buy it and blame it on the customer who purchased it from us if it was faulty. Worst three years of my life!!!!

I've used CeX numerous times over the years for photographic equipment without any bad experiences, but it does need you to have a good eye for gear condition and you do have to make it apparent to the staff that you haven't just crawled out from under a rock, insist on testing stuff first, etc. If you manage that then there are some decent bargains to be had. In the last year or so I've bought about four and a half grand (RRP) worth of SLR bodies and lenses in new or almost new condition for just under half of that.. top bagging was from their Dalston shop with a Canon 5D3 body still factory sealed for £1300 earlier this year, which was about £750 less than the next cheapest actual new body I could find. The guy I dealt with in there knew his onions and was as pleased as I was to be walking out with that thing. I've found them to be one of the better branches to deal with.
You do have to weigh experiences like that up against the time I walked out of the Camden shop with a lens I'd just paid £800 for, skilfully wrapped and parcel taped up in six feet of bubble wrap by two proper mandem shop staff who had no idea what they were dealing with. Nice enough guys but I was steering that transaction.
For small stuff (e.g. mac keyboards, I keep knocking Guinness into mine) I buy them up cheap n grubby and clean them with isopropyl and they last until they die, end of. My expectations with small things like that are not high, similarly with DVDs etc.
