Sydney Melbourne Hong Kong - several times Singapore - several times Istanbul New York San Francisco Oslo - drove a tram there Paris Berlin - before and after the Wall came down. East Berlin was really interesting. Amsterdam Rotterdam Cologne - still remember having sausages and potato salad there. Yum. Utrecht Brussels Zurich Lausanne Geneva Budapest Sofia Dusseldorf Rome Milan Munich - on German reunification night. Got very drunk with some German soldiers. Vienna Tokyo I've possibly forgotten one or two places. Loads of countries I've never been to but would like to visit - Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, would like to do Russia but not happy about personal safety there I'm afraid.

Tend to visit more Town's/Resort's than Cities on my travels, but here goes,
Czech Republic: -Prague -Most -Varnsdorf
Cyprus: - Ayia Napa
Egypt: -Alexandria -Cairo
France: - Paris
Israel: - Ashdod - (Was meant to go to Jerusalem, however Israelly immigration decided to be funny and not let my girlfriend enter the country, she's from Pakistan but has had a British passport since birth, I was ok though, being a brit.)
Malta: - Bugibba - Mdina -Sliema -Valletta - Rabat (Gozo)
Spain: (Mainland) - Alicante - Benidorm - Guadalest - Torrevieja - Almost my second home! Need to get back there soon, missing a lot of Iveco Cityclass thrash from the Costazul drivers!
(Majorca) - Alcudia - Inca - Magaluf - Palma - Port de Pollensa
(Tenerife) - Playa de Americas - Los Cristianos - Los Vinos
Turkey: - Alanya - Marmaris
UAE: - Dubai - Fujairah
USA: - Los Angeles - Las Vegas - Monterey - San Francisco - Pismo Beach - Santa Barbara - Also have spent time in the Yosemitie National Park and in Death Valley.
Favorite places:
San Francisco Santa Barbara Benidorm - Many think its tacky but I think its clean, tidy, friendly, cheap and has plenty of things to keep you occupied.
Least favorite:
Dubai - Found it boring! yes, its clean and tidy and the architecture is amazing but if its the middle of a hot day, there's only so many shopping centre's I can look round!

Very interesting to see where every one has been. Me personally I have just came back from NYC - I highly advise it for anyone wanting to go. I describe there subway as very "mechanical" looking but does the job and well in my opinion. Where I was staying in Queens/Long Island City they were in the process of building a new station.
Out of interest, those of you who have visited Hong Kong how difficult did you find it to communicate? Obviously all the signage looks like symbols etc... Unlike somewhere in Eurorpe

Unlike somewhere in Eurorpe Hong Kong has very extensive english language provision - street names, bus and MTR destinations and lots of the shops. Anywhere in the touristy areas (so all the main parts) people will speak English. Even eating places with predominant Cantonese script will have an English menu somewhere - they all want your money! Only if you get a long way off the tourist trail, for example in the New Territories, will you encounter people who can't speak any English. Even then you can point and gesticulate. I've never had any great problem anywhere in Hong Kong and have eaten at small local restaurants which look "grotty" to our sanitised eyes and have had great food and no upset stomach. One of the silliest things that happened was in a restaurant across from the hotel I've stayed at a lot. It was very popular with the local residents (everywhere is residential - always tower blocks above even the swankiest shops) but I ended up being delivered enormous quantities of food. The soup arrived in a terrine on a trolley, I'd picked the boniest fish on the menu which was a nightmare to eat etc. It was quite clear that the locals found my eating exploits (not deliberate on my part) very amusing judging from the reaction going on around me. I didn't quite get a round of applause when I left but I could tell I'd caused huge amusement. Tokyo was the place that caught me out. Getting from the airport to the station near my hotel was fine - English script on the rail network. Trying to get out of Ikebukuro Station to find my hotel was horrendous. Think of Oxford Circus tube multiplied ten fold in terms of complexity and exits and with 20 times the number of people. I was totally lost. Japanese people stopped to help which was lovely and I eventually got out but then coping with the address system (there's no consistent way to write an address in Japanese) and how they number buildings, blocks and streets was alien. I eventually found my hotel but my stay was rather disorientating. I found it very hard to get around and work out where I was or to order food. I also got ill which didn't help. In the end I came home earlier which I regret to this day but I simply hadn't done enough research before hand. When I went back a second time it was much better as I'd done a lot more homework, had watched some english language Japanese TV (they also do learn Japanese programmes) so was far better prepared and had a much better time despite the language barrier. I think English was a bit more obvious the second time - more of it around the place. I love Japan as a country - unlike anywhere else I've ever been and it's good to have your perceptions challenged.
