Quick heads up for you step entrance fans, the days of the Olympian in Kent may well be numbered. Thanet and Herne Bay are receiving 30 brand new Scanias soonish (March probably) and some ex-Manchester Tridents are also being cascaded in to various depots so the Olympians may soon be gone!

Noooooooooo! Sad to see the Stagecoach Olympians go, the N-LPN N-MPN batch with the Cummins engines are my favourite Olys . The Cummins thrash sounds amazing when worked hard been on these many times when they were newer .

Quick update - looks like you've only got a fortnight or so left. Making the most of it, got 16773 for two rounders on the 17 today. Nice!

The Olympians are hanging out there, last week i got on no less then 5 but noted: 16024 was on the 1 (worked off the 18A plus is ex U), 16130 and 16139 were on the 23A and 25A respectively (are ex TB), 16090 (ex PD) and 16592 were on 89, 16366 was on the 10A, 16507 was on the 18 and 16788 on the 12.
plus the others still hanging in there are:
16012 and 16014 are ex NS then TB 16026 is ex U
A few are being kept in reserve until the end of the year so im guessing the ex TB 16130 and 16139 will stay until then as their tax was only renewed earlier this month.

Today being D-Day for Stagecoach East Kent Olympians, hopefully moz got to drive one for the last time. I got to ride 7 yesterday with 12 being out: Firstly it was a rounder on the 27 with 16505 Then onto the 10:50 route 11/9 rounder with 16315 which as earlier stated went via Manston Airport. Back at Canterbury I saw 16788 on the 14 so got on that to Eastry with 16365 coming back Then onto 16760 on the 89B/89 loop. What a nice route the 89B is. Then 16139 on the 25. And finally 16366 on the 18 yet again!!!

Nope - long weekend, so six days off. I know a good few are going into the reserve fleet and at least one has been sold into preservation. I must make sure he lets he know how long it takes him to dig out all the filler and bits of tin from the roof dome! Moz

That's made my day - so glad I spotted this. I remember this bus as plain old 366 in Basingstoke when I was a lot younger. Found this on the net which illustrates the time: www.flickr.com/photos/51738247@N03/6910279982Small world sometimes, was pleased to read that!

moz, it seems that regular 18 driver has had 16373 donated from SC East Kent instead of 16366. At least that's now two in the area with 16014 coming back to London. Wonder if any more have been saved.

Wonder if any more have been saved. I did hear about this, it's a better bus overall for preservation. Also noted that almost the entire reserve fleet for EK is currently Olympians so they still threaten to return to service. On the upside, 16773 has gone to some firm in Slough via Ensigns - good luck with the restricted steering lock and mystery air leak on that one! Moz

Quick update to this, one of our drivers has actually bought one (not the guy who had one donated) but doesn't know what he's going to do with it. Also, he hasn't actually driven one in anger, so should be interesting...
