I think the last digit of that fleet number is an eight, not a zero (so TP1538). At the risk of being shouted down, there are still plenty of that batch around alive and well if someone fancies preserving one. Not all buses can be saved. I agree - I think sometimes we can get a bit rose tint glasses about old buses. This bus is what 13 years old? the market is flooded with ex London buses and its worth what 15k max? which would be nothing for a movie company. I don't think it's rose tinted glasses : I like older buses as much as the next enthusiast. It's simply the fact that everything can't be saved, and there are plenty of that batch still around. Where we have to keep eyes open is when movie production companies buy up rare vehicles to be trashed in films, and that has happened on numerous occasions, sadly.

To my admittedly dodgy eyesight it could be TP1536 on the back. Not sure if that would fit in with the 558 as mentioned above though.

So sad. Judging by the photo, the 558 left behind seven sisters. Lets pray for them.

My guess is the bus involved was due for scraping as it's not unusual for vehicles to head that way despite recent withdraw from service or it being a good bus. It could've had a recent prang which was too expensive to repair and thus sold off cheap.

As for the bus itself, the market is awash with ex London LFDD's. There might have been more outrage had it been a Routemaster!!

Do we actually know which bus this was? I did study photos I could find, and none seem to reveal any registration or fleet number, so I'm not sure what everyone is looking at.
I'm mostly disappointed with this "stunt" because I think things like this add absolutely nothing to films. Good films don't have things blowing up for no reason. I'm disappointed that there's one less Plaxton President that could've been used elsewhere. The argument that Plaxton President / Dennis Tridents aren't rare is completely valid, but don't forget that this is how things become rarities. 1969 Dodge Chargers are rare because of the Dukes of Hazard episodes made in the '70s. They trashed loads of them.

On the picture that ServerKing posted earlier in this thread there is a very faint fleet number visible to the upper right of the rear blind box just below the right hand tube that has been used to create the explosion. Clicking on the picture and zooming in you can make out TP153 but the last digit is not so clear. I think it is a 6 but it has also been suggested it could be a 0 or an 8.

After some careful studying, I'd say it's a 0.

I think I can confirm that this was TP1530/TN33333. I was casually looking at this photo of TP1536, and noticed that it doesn't have First logos either side of its blindbox. TP1538 appears not to have those logos either. According to snoggle's photo, TP1530 did have them, but they were covered over with black vinyl. What's more is that a small piece of the vinyl on the right hand side was missing, exposing the yellow/green of the First logo. Also, the lower deck windscreen is split into two partitions. The right hand windscreen (from driver's perspective) has a sun strip thingy on it (that's the technical term ), but the left hand windscreen doesn't. Now look at this photo. You can just about make out the dull matte sheen of the vinyl either side of the blindbox, and the missing piece of vinyl on the right, and also the missing sun strip thingy from the left hand windscreen.

I think I saw that or a similar bus on a stand blinded for Hammersmith. I wonder what is it doing on the 211
