West Coast Motors, with operations in Campbeltown & Oban, and to a small extent Glasgow, have just taken over Perryman's. This represents new territory, as Perryman's heartland was Berwick & the Scottish Borders.
2 bits of triviality arise. Firstly, West Coast Motors have operations that might be associated with the big 3 operators. They took over Dunoon & Rothesay operations from Stagecoach in 2004. Perryman's included Berwick town operations taken over from Arriva in 2002. Oban is more subtle. It used to be part of Midland Bluebird, bought out by GRT who divested it in 1992 before becoming First. Oban & District joined WCM in 1999.
Also, despite many remaining independents, the privatised bus operations are now in 16 different hands. The 12 NBC owners are now Stagecoach, First, DB-Arriva, Go-Ahead, National Express, Transdev, East Yorkshire, Wellglade, CentreBus, Uno, Rotala and West Coast Motors. The privatisation of SBG & LBL add 4 further participants: Comfort DelGro, RATP, McGills and Tower Transit.
