Hello everyone,
I am a regular board member and I am also a volunteer at the London Transport Museum. I want to share an exciting project I am currently working on with the museum to commemorate the role of transport workers during WW1.
I am researching the stories of bus drivers, particularly from Tottenham, Walthamstow and Haringey, who drove the B-type buses to and from Somme, France during the First World War, as well as other workers such as mechanics who looked after the repair of the buses. The research will be then used in a temporary exhibition at the museum, and will tour in 3 different locations including Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham, between Oct – Dec 2016.
I would very much love to hear from anyone who has stories they would like to share about family members. I understand that the war took place over a century ago so I am not expecting to speak to anyone who lived during the war.
I am very keen to arrange interviews in person, but also over the phone or through email. Also, if anyone is interested I’ve attached a flyer regarding the ‘Battle Bus Roadshow’ starting from 1pm to 4 pm on the 10th of April 2016 at Bruce Castle Museum - everyone is welcome to come along!
If you are interested in getting involved or know of anyone that can be of help to my research please contact me at LTMBattlebus2016@gmail.com. For additional information about the project please follow us on Twitter @ltmbattlebus
Regards,
Ray
