Looks quite bad, but given the age of the vehicle, I think it'll be repaired. TA271 was a fair bit older and sustained a similar level of damage but was repaired, only to be withdrawn about 18 months later! I saw it up close, would be very surprised if it's repaired.

Confirmed as arson. Good old SE London.

The fire must of been set at Lewisham Clocktower and the driver drove it towards the bus stand and noticed it when it took hold. It does look like arson as it seems to be confined to the rear upper deck seats which seems to be a popular location with arson attacks over the years.

Without preempting any possible criminal investigation too much, I'd say the seat of the fire was around one of the rear rows of seats. Therefore, unless it was an electrical fault (and the indicators are clearly still working after the fire was put out, so that's unlikely) then it looks very much like accelerant would have been needed for the fire to take hold and burn hot enough to melt the metal frame.

I read somewhere that an aerosol can was lit

Hope they get the stupid thingy! They should put him in a old bus at one of the scrap yards and set it on fire at each end and let him find his way out of it.
