Does anybody know how often a typical London bus is serviced? By that I mean routine work not accident repairs. Several years ago on a tour round GAL Merton I heard something about vehicles being inspected every six weeks. Is this the same frequency across across all London operators? If so, what kind of things are done during this inspection? For example, do they change the oil every six weeks?

This was in the bit where the RM loving mechanic at X was clonking various bits of RM with a hammer to check if there were punctures or fractures. I expect that buses are subject to a tiered regime of inspection and maintenance - a bit like trains are - so there may be a more intensive check / particular bit of maintenance at a 6 week interval.

Either 28 or 21 days depending on company.
Bus gets a safety inspection as well as a service depending on which cycle its on, So it'll go something like A-A-B-A-A-C etc
For example, A service is just checking levels, B would be a engine oil change and fuel filters right through to a D/E which is every oil and filter changed before MOT.

I saw that they are repeating the route master programme on london live sometimes they have some of the BFI films on a saturday The repeats of the Route Masters have just finished as episode 6 (the crime one with that poor bloke kicked out of the top deck at F Park) was on last night. I think it gets a repeat on Sunday. "Double decker driving school" is on next Thursday - the one featuring Arriva [1]. They've also just repeated the Night Bus series. [1] DLA fans can watch it and work themselves into a froth with all those training buses.
