I think there is a railway bridge right after where this incident took place if I'm not mistaken, judging by the position of the bus this incident could've been much worse.

An article i read in the Metro had a witness statement saying the 1st car slammed its brakes on because someone stepped onto the zebra crossing the car behind crashed into the back of the 1st and the bus swerved to avoid hitting the 2 cars

Not the drivers fault I see. I am just glad that the bus didnt go and fall on the railway bridge. I hope everyone who was inside the 52 bus to be well.

So not leaving a safe stopping distance is not the drivers fault? We dont know the full circumstances and to me it was clear he/she was trying to avoid a harsh brake for the safety of his/her passengers as well as the occupants of the vehicle in front. I once had a van coming at me on a blind bend on my side of the road and i pulled the wheel to the wrong side of the road to avoid a head on but ensured it was clear first, otherwise i would of hit it head on. Fortunately i was not in service and some minor damage was sustained.

So not leaving a safe stopping distance is not the drivers fault? That is really a matter for the police, I don't think it would be appropriate to debate on here who is and isn't too blame. LBC news says 14 people injured, seemingly none seriously www.lbc.co.uk/news/london/west/kensington-chelsea/ladbroke-bus-crash-14-injured/

So not leaving a safe stopping distance is not the drivers fault? Which driver are you talking about? Based on whats being said maybe the initial driver who had to slam the brakes could be at fault, considering the pedestrian stepped out onto a ZEBRA CROSSING. The following vehicles then are not necessarily prepared to react to a sudden slamming of the brakes. Drivers need to know how to do an emergency brake to pass a driving test, so this implies that it is accepted that having safe distances does not necessarily mean your not going to get into an accident.
