Ok I really agree we should stop debating this. Started by me and now ended by me Indeed - let's wait for the outcome before we start judging who's right or wrong.

Initial reports that a route 52 bus has collided with pedestrians and building on Ladbroke Grove near Canal Way. Routes 23 52 70 228 295 316 452 are diverted following the closure of Ladbroke Grove at Canal Way due to a traffic collision The 52 must have come out of the roundabout at Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury so I'm surprised it ended up there. Not blaming anyone though as I remember had a similar incident at Herne Hill. After serving the route 3 only bus stop, I approached the zebra crossing and a pedestrian came straight out of the entrance of the park and straight onto the crossing, forcing me to do an emergency stop. I really wanted to scream at her but I didn't want customers complaining about my behaviour.

I hate it on a zebra crossing when I'm looking to see if people near it want to cross then at the last second they decide to......ok I have slowed but please at least look before u start to cross or give some kind of indication.

Officially they are supposed to wait for any approaching vehicles to stop before they start crossing, equivalent to proceeding on the green but only when it is safe to do so.

I thought it was actually that vehicles must slow regardless rather than pedestrians needing to wait to see if a car slows down? I've lost count the amount of times I've waited at a zebra crossing when vehicles were a fair distance away and they don't bother stopping

If a vehicle is relatively close to the zebra crossing I usually wait as you get drivers that will stop....or drivers that can't stop in time... or drivers that won't stop despite being able to timely do so. If vehicles are a good distance away I'm more likely to proceed with more confidence that they will reduce speed appropriately.

Just step on to the sodding crossing without looking or expect a vehicle to stop. I've waited as a pedestrian on a zebra crossing and if no cars slow down then i will step out a bit to show my intentions. You cannot expect a vehicle to stop as soon as you get there as it isnt safe, some peoples behaviour near zebra crossings is really confusing to work out if they are going to cross at it or walk past.

Exactly, if I'm driving I will stop at a pedestrian crossing if practical to do so but I don't expect to have to do an emergency stop just as I don't expect other drivers to do so for me when I'm a pedestrian.

I'm not expecting vehicles to do emergency stops. I'm referring to vehicles who are a fair distance down the road and still fail to slow down and stop, not those right in front of the crossing - apologies if I didn't make it clear mate.
