Looking forward to seeing Huddersfield finally receiving some new buses in those 10 new Streetlites. Shame there's no new double decks on their way but according to a reliable source, 10 former Metroline VW's will be joining the First West Yorkshire fleet. Huddersfield are due to receive VW1763/65/69/78/79 and Halifax are due VW1752/54/57/58/60. They will regain their original fleetnumbers from their First days. Bit of a shame they're now getting some ex London buses now I'm not living in Huddersfield anymore, but since last year it seems as though First have been given a kick up the backside by TeamPennine as they are starting to improve their services and renew their ageing fleet. I suspect most of the B7TL's will start departing across the group, though Huddersfield still have a rather large fleet of B7TL's to dispose of. So that's First in West Yorkshire in addition to South Yorkshire gaining ex-First London VNs. Although I went to Huddersfield as recently as April, I may well go back to ride an ex route 83 VN when I next visit Halifax. That will admittedly not be until the bus station rebuild is complete. West Yorkshire has one of my favourite Arriva subsidiaries. Leeds is probably my favourite city in Britain for transport where I have never lived! I have been there every yea since 2008.

A limited service on key routes..... www.buses.co.uk/christmas-day-bus-serviceThis year we are supporting essential workers and keeping you connected with loved ones with a brand-new Christmas Day service. We know it's essential for you to be able to travel across the city 365 days a year, that's why this year we have introduced this special Christmas Day service on routes 1/1A, 5B, 7 and 49. I’m working on Christmas Day: Many of my profession are. Yet none of us can get to work on public transport. Perhaps one day tfl will see sense. I plan to work Christmas Day again too, even though I normally swap to avoid working Sundays. I have noticed that my company provides quite a bit of flexibility to Christmas Day staff to choose their days off around then.

What is confusing about route E2/E8 receiving hybrids from route 263 (and the balance from route 245) is that route 263 is not currently hybrid. Maybe it will receive VMHs from route 91? Route 271 does not seem likely to be withdrawn until the next route 21 tender next October, with the retender being based on its diversion to Holloway to part replace route 271.

Maybe the 112 is going to WJ. I reckon too that it is route 112 moving to WJ.

Arriva have confirmed that route 349 will transfer to Edmonton (EC) garage on November 5th to make space for the 307 when it passes to Arriva from Enfield (E) garage Not for long, as it's due for withdrawal before long.

I think all route numbers as we know them should be abolished and all given the number XXXX. This is because, provided buses run directly where people want to go, they do not give an XXXX what the route number is.

The 206 is the only route to have the word 'patk' in both termini I didn't think any route had the word patk in either terminus

The 33, 66 and 99 are the only 2 digit routes with the same numbers that don't meet any of the others (11, 22, 44, 55, 77, 88) also they are the only routes that don't enter central London In fact, the only route divisible by 33 that sees central London is route 363, and even then only just.

and bar routes 268, 631, H2, H3, H18 and H19. So not all of them. GR also had a short stint on the 331 from 1994-96 and a much shorter stint on the U9 in 1998 I deliberately rode route 331 in Feb 1996 to ride a Volvo B6 as I was disappointed by its imminent loss to London Buslines.

Consecutive route numbers that serve same area/pass by each other This is from a North London perspective 191 & 192 at Edmonton and Enfield Town 242 & 243 at Dalston Junction/Shoreditch W3 & W4 at Wood Green 298 & 299 at Southgate and Cockfosters Anymore please add A lot of low route number examples in central London. Also in north London, routes 383 & 384 in Barnet. I was reminded of them as their new tender terms start this month. Routes 110 & 111 from Hounslow bus station via Hounslow rail station. Routes 160, 161 & 162 meet in Eltham. Routes 182 & 183 meet at Harrow. Nearby routes 223 & 224 meet in Wembley. So, quite a lot of examples really.

All buses ending in 43 are on the Northern Line: 43: Angel, Archway, Highgate, London Bridge 143: East Finchley, Archway 243: Waterloo 343: Elephant, Borough, London Bridge 643: East Finchley This won’t be true when the proposed 443 is introduced between Croydon and Caterham Maybe this route 443 could be given the number 239. After all, a route 439 is being introduced in the area at a similar time.

Not a RATP London United fan I take it? I don't think many people are Except that the RATP thread seems to fill up more quickly than the other operator threads. Mind you, even before having read the operator threads today, use of the Stagecoach thread seems to have accelerated lately - possibly due to the takeover of Tower Transit (LI) and HCT London.

No, they're all bad - Cameron started the nonsense off by introducing austerity, May was probably the least worst out of the last 4 but was seriously out of her depth, Johnson made error after error be it particularly around all things Covid (credit for vaccines goes to the scientists not him) & Truss has managed to crash the economy in juts a few weeks of getting the jobs. Brexit has nothing to do with Truss being in power - she voted Remain but he has since done her usual party trick of changing her mind when it suits her and now says she'd of voted Leave instead. Brexit did result in two changes of PM though, which I feel that has it not been for Brexit, David Cameron might still be PM or he would have handed it over to someone else. Yes, prior to the 2015 General Election he had pledged to stand down towards the end of the 2nd term. So, probably in 2019.

TfL should introduce a route number 999 which, unlike the rest of the network, we can only use in an emergency.

For anyone interested in the financial crisis, DB is apparently almost insolvent. I’m not an expert though. And I don’t know what that would mean for Arriva who are owned by them. www.railwaygazette.com/business/deutsche-bahn-sells-arriva-businesses-to-private-equity-holding-company/62672.articlewww.intelligenttransport.com/transport-news/139879/arriva-group-agreement-purchase-businesses/They sold the Swedish operations in March. UK operations are the last standing. They still have quite a bit of work with London Overground, CrossCountry, Chiltern plus bus operations here so it would have to be quite a big firm to take over. I saw a lot of activity last week at their offices in Holborn, I'm sure there's things happening in the background here. DB are in real trouble back home I wonder if the same firm which took over Abellio will be interested in consolidating operations in London and elsewhere? Probably why they were so quick to head off those strikes which would have been the death blow for the business in London had they gone ahead, possibly for days We may have the largest Arriva operation. However, they are apparently still represented in 13 countries. How many of them would be willing to take route 318 ENs is a moot point. www.arriva.co.uk/en/countries
