I do wonder if this will suffer similarly to the German €9 Monthly ticket trial where the existing resources and timetabling couldn't deal with the sudden increase in passengers.

Upper Tooting Park (where the 249 used to stand) may have been a good one for the 315 to use. Yeah thats a good shout or even run via Balham Park Road & St James Road. Still, there is a lot right with the idea in general so I won’t be too hard on them I remember there being mention of a route being extended along Balham Park Road and St James' Road in the long past. May have been the old 115 route. Moz

Quite sad to see the opportunity to reintroduce an Oxford Street - London Bridge link. You'd be surprised how many people want to travel between the two. However, if it's seen as viable to run the 133 to Holborn, then there's really no reason not to extend the 98 from Holborn to London Bridge instead. I'm sure the 133 could find something else to do - maybe take over the 388 to Hackney Wick? At the southern end cut the 133 back to Clapham Park (via Christchurch Road) and send the remains of the 45 down to Streatham Station.

Some of this is down to driver shortage, but a lot is also down to price paid for operating the services. A lot of local operators no longer bother offering to cover RRS, others take work then if they get a better paying private hire/tour they throw it back and some simply sit back and wait for work to be offered at E-Rail rate. Sadly E-Rail is usually only offered last minute so if, like in the case of Tun Wells - Battle the entire All-Stations service is unable to be covered, it won't be offered as E-Rail until very late in the week by which time either firms have alternative work or drivers have made other plans to be able to cover. The 477 has been in decline for sometime now and Arriva don't seem particularly interested in improving it, I can't help thinking Go Coach would do a better job. I'm not surprised that the Bluewater section has been axed with passengers expected to use Fastrack but the loss of the Sunday service is terrible. Probably not the right subsection to ask, but I have it on fairly good authority that Go-Coach are having to leave their Otford Depot and move everything back to Swanley. Anyone any more info? Moz

Well I think everyone else is going to have a go, so I might as well. Not really sure about some bits of London so I've left hose be. This may be better/as bad/worse than the TfL proposals but I did actually sit down and briefly think about things before I sharpened my crayons. 45 Withdrawn between Clapham Park and Brixton. Instead extended via 355 to Tooting Station. Becomes Elephant - Tooting Station. Moz Somehow, you've managed to give me an even worse change than TfL Now I have no link to the doctors or the hospital whereas with TfL, the 59 now becomes my link to the doctors. Admittedly, you've done better than TfL by not messing about with the 59 as much and leaving the 3 & 133 alone Could you not leave the 45 running via Brixton Hill & Streatham Place as I could accept that scenario I never said they were good ideas! The 45 to Tooting could still work as an extension from Clapham Park and then either rerouting the 59 to terminate there via the 355, or cutting the 59 back to Brixton and sending the P4 through to Clapham Park via the 355. Really wish Snoggle was still with us as he would definitely have an opinion on the proposed changes. Moz

For anyone missing the old DWs, former Arriva DW49(LJ53NGU) is now with YMS Travel of Aylesham. Should be out on RRS in deepest Kent fairly frequently.

As an alternative, keep the plan for the 188, retain the 168 as is and shove the 148 up to Canada Water instead of Camberwell. Then you can just cut the 1.

I see lots of shortages driver across the Kent area! I mean I saw twitters saying no service at times or part of times running as it was down to driver shortage at the current. It didn't look good for Stagecoach! And no sign of these driver shortages easing anytime soon and it's just as bad in the road haulage industry. These problems have been brewing for a while now and the pandemic really has brought things to a head. O/T - A lot of it is down to the company. I could walk back in to East Kent tomorrow, but I found it such a toxic firm to work for I won't. Moz

Just had a chat with a former colleague at Stagecoach East Kent, apparently their driver shortage has now reached the point that they've subbed out some of their Canterbury school work to Ensigns for a month or so.

The 19A when it ran Tufnell Park to Hammersmith, crossed the Thames twice, once over Battersea Bdg, then over Putney Bridge. Don't forget the old 45 that also crossed the river twice. Moz

Bit cheeky but there are two red buses included - looks like they're having a clearout at Wrightbus this Wednesday. AMS Auctions
