The U7 is quite of an oddball route. From Uxbridge Bus Station, it follows many routes until the Uxbridge Road. It travels down the Uxbridge Road for 3 stops and then turns a right and serves Brunel University, Hillingdon Road, Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon Hospital, Harlington Road, West Drayton Road and then crosses over the Uxbridge Road. The route then serves Hewens Road, Mellow Lane West, Pole Hill Road, Charville Lane, Bury Avenue, Goshawk Gardens, Weymouth Gardens, Adelphi Crescent, Adelphi Way, Kingshill Avenue, Lansbury Drive and then the Uxbridge Road for the 3rd time! It travels down the Uxbridge Road for another 3 stops and then terminates at the huge Sainsbury's at Lombardy Retail Park. The route has a large stint south of the Uxbridge Road and then another large stint north of the Uxbridge Road. The gap between Uxbridge County Court and West Drayton Road is about 1 stop on the 607, 4 stops on the 427 and 15 stops on the round the houses U7! The gap between West Drayton Road and Hillingdon Road is about 2 stops on the 607, 8 stops on the 427 and 11 stops on the indirect U7.

I would say maybe the 482 doesn't need double deckers. I say this because whenever I see it, there's always about 10-15 people on board max. By converting it to single decker 10.9 metre operation, the current TE's could be used for other routes? Not sure which ones though...

You are soooo lucky , it's such a shame because I live on the route and have never seen one! I think the DE's/ DML's would really struggle at the double run on Medway Parade, Golf Links Estate area, Edison Drive, Denbigh Road, obviously Sussex Road turn, that turn is extremely tight. The E5 really deserves longer buses, it's mostly always packed. There hasn't been a longer bus on the E5 when it's been with Abellio yet. How did the longer bus cope in the Havelock and Toplocks Estate?

the E5 route runs with short 8.9 metre buses. I don't know if longer buses can be on the route, it would be amazing to see this and double deckers can't do the route because of tight turns throughout the route, such as the Sussex Road turn in Southall. Also I thought the road that goes underneath the flats on McNair Road in Southall restricted double deckers, but I think they can just make it because the bridge is 14.5 ft, wheras a standard double decker bus is around 14.2 ft. So, they would just fit underneath the flats. I've been on LVF before and seen that when the E5 was with Metroline and First London, there have been rare occasions where a 2 door DE or DML has been on the route, I have never seen them on the route, so if anyone has any pictures of a two door bus on the E5, I'd really love to see them.
