Looks like there may be an outbreak of common sense about how security and immigration issues will be handled on future EUrostar services from the Netherlands. Checks done before boarding in the Netherlands with half the train secured for international travellers and half for "domestic" NL to B pax. The train will be locked internally to separate passengers. In Brussels the domestic passengers will alight, that part of the train will be security checked and then opened up for passengers travelling from Brussels to London. Source info

Everyone is security and immigration checked before boarding in the UK regardless of destination. If "domestic" passengers board within Belgium that's with Shenghen so there are no checks and there is no need to segregate the train. It's only the UK that has abject paranoia about international travel. Thousands of trains cross borders seamlessly in continental Europe with no delays or checks.

So the Dutch and Belgians will not want to check the passports of those arriving from the UK? Why would they? Eurostar immigration processes usually involve a double check anyway - in London you are checked by UK and French authorities in succession at St Pancras if travelling to Paris. The same happens if travelling from Paris to London at Gare du Nord. There is no check on exit at Gare du Nord because you've already been checked. I've never done Eurostar to Brussels so can't comment on that. It is only the UK that insists on checking everyone multiple times and why I utterly hate our Immigration system - even if you're a UK resident you're treated like scum and as if you have no entitlement to enter the country of your birth. Try travelling from Lille to the UK to get the full "experience".
