The SL16 if it does happen will introduce the suggested link. Indeed but via more of the A205 and more congestion as a result Yes and that’s a good reason the 201 should remain as it is.

What is stopping the 450 from being decked? There are no low bridges to speak of and longer 10.2m EVs are capable of running the route just fine

What is stopping the 450 from being decked? There are no low bridges to speak of and longer 10.2m EVs are capable of running the route just fine One of the most obvious reasons is tight roads alongside many other single decker routes. I’ve seen a Go Ahead double decker training bus driving along the 124 route along Boundfield Road & Waters Road not suitable for normal service. A double decker can get through however it would not be suitable for normal service the most obvious thing where two buses meet. 10.2m buses should not even be on it in my opinion from doing that route many times the amount of times I’ve had to fit through some of the tightest gaps was absolutely shocking between Spa Hill & West Croydon this is the part of the route with the tightest roads. Driving an ENX around the B13 was much easier then doing the 450 at times believe me! Bensham Lane is a nightmare because of drivers who obtained licenses from Legoland Driving School and so is Osbourne Road & Northwood Road junction due to Illegal parking. Actually yeah I think there are low trees on Fountain Drive You mean Kingswood Drive however you are driving in the middle of the road. Rail Replacements use that road all the time. Fountain Drive has no low trees.

The bus handled the rest of the route fine that day. I imagine the left turn from Brigstock Road into Bensham Lane towards Croydon is a problem as well though I never saw that in action?

Nothing more can be said the two left turns you have just described are actually the worst offenders. Bensham Lane being the number 1 because of that community centre and when it is in use people park anywhere making a nightmare for all traffic to get in and out of that road.

Re Bensham Lane, a lot of the problems is due to drivers trying to rush out onto Brigstock Road without letting the bus turn in, then they just end up getting stuck. Parked cars don’t help that either

I used to sit there and stare at them because of the confusion of why they couldn’t move… well if they looked down there nose they would have realised bus needs space to get in the road… off you go reverse… plonker!

Are the 33, 265 and 419 able to be double deckered? Or is there something on their routes that stops them?
