Just this week walked along this proposed new route, no sign of anything happening, no infrastructure work, no.repainting of faded bus stop markings in Kings Park, and next Saturday is the day it's happening. I'll believe it when I see it, I wait with bated breath. Wondering if they’ll arrange something where they turn around just before the hospital, NS now have 2 buses sitting there doing absolutely nothing. 2 buses is nothing compared to some companies *cough Metroline* sure the buses will gradually enter service on other routes or continue to be used for type training.

I'm sure theres a few buses sitting in NS every day doing absolutely nothing. Not the end of the world.

At last, it's definitely happening, 25th January is the day. Notices are up on bus stops which includes operating times. Mon -Sat 05.40 to 2400 , every half hour, but hourly after 2100. Hourly all day Sunday. Pity I'm busy that day but will make it up there the following week. Still think it's a pointless route, but heigh-ho , a new route is welcome.

I don’t understand why it’s pointless? Pointless because Kings Park development is not as isolated from the bus routes as you may think. I'm 59 and not in rude health but I can walk from Harold Wood Station to Tesco Gallows Corner in 15 minutes and therefore I can't see many people hanging around at HW Stn wanting to go to Kings Park unless the bus is within five or so minutes of arriving. Now the Chatteris Ave section of it is more interesting for sure. I can see patronage there, from Hilldene Avenue for shoppers living in the estate down Chatteris Ave. But from Hilldene Avenue we already have 499 to Tesco, 256 to Harold Wood, so I would have had the 497 going beyond HW Stn to Shepherds Hill to give a proper service there instead of the four journeys a day 347.

Maybe extended to Upminster via Shepherds Hill as it will need a turning point. As for lack of use, I’m not so sure. The public in general, have become lazy. It’s another connection to HW station from within the estate, and drops the less able to get closer to HW Polyclinic, some of whom, are unable to walk great distances. The main purpose of the route, is to provide another service to link to Crossrail, and provide better connections for all (got to justify the new line somehow!)

Anyone been on this route yet?
I live on the Kings Park estate and the most people I have ever seen on it was 3 and that was on the first day.
Will it last? It just seems a pointless route so far.

You have to wonder when cuts are being made elsewhere and it's about 40 minutes driving and 20 minutes stand time on each rounder, nice for the drivers but not very cost effective. Shouldn't this route have been put on hold until Crossrail actually opens?

Your forgetting that it takes time for demand to build sometimes - the route has only been in operation for a couple of weeks.

Yes, I've been on it twice. Late morning from Harold Hill and mid evening from Harold Wood. Both times as I expected the main passenger traffic was between Gallows Corner Tesco and Harold Hill. No one got on or off in Kings Park. From HH four of us were on it until Tesco then just me. From HW five got on at the Station one got off at Tesco, the other three in Chatteris Avenue. Haven't figured out where they stand at HH, it isn't at the first stop. At HW they hang around for a few minutes in St Clements Avenue then stop at the Station and then immediately go back to HH.

After passengers alight at Hilldene Avenue, buses run to the 174's stand at Dagnam Park Square.
