I have seen mixed reports as to whether the ex Oxford Volvo B5LHs now helping out Stagecoach on Bee Network services are there permanently or merely on loan.
If the latter, they could come back to this area for Carousel expansion.

(Yes a slightly cheeky comment).

The new Carousel routes from Sunday 28th July have been announced, Carousel is reverting to the 30-series route that Arriva used until a few months ago and two cross-town links are restored. Note that Arriva is withdrawing route 5 (High Wycombe-Bourne End via Wooburn Green) from tomorrow, 19th May, and this service will not be reinstated under Carousel. It is part-replaced by rerouting route 7. 30: High Wycombe - Downley, replaces Arriva 10 with revised timetable and new hourly Sunday service. 31: High Wycombe - Penn, replaces Arriva 11 with revised timetable. 32: Booker - High Wycombe - Micklefield, replaces Arriva 2 and 12. New timetable features earlier morning journeys, improved 20-minute frequency on Saturday and earler and later Sunday journeys. Late evening and Sunday journeys will operate via St Hugh's Avenue and Roebuck Avenue as service 32A. 33: Totteridge - High Wycombe - Desborough Castle, replaces Arriva 3 and 13. New timetable with daytime buses up to every 15 minutes and earlier and later Sunday journeys. 36: High Wycombe - Bourne End, replaces Arriva 6 and runs to same times as their May 19th timetable. 37: High Wycombe - Maidenhead, replaces Arriva 7 and runs to the same route and times as their May 19th timetable. Carousel route 4 (High Wycombe-Lane End) will be renumbered 34 from the same date. Also Carousel will operate routes 800, 850 and X80 between High Wycombe, Henley and Reading to the same timetables.

Carousel is to hold what it call a "Fast Track Recruitment Day" on Sunday 2nd June, it will take place from 10.00 to 16.00 at the Holiday Inn, Handy Cross (by Junction 4 of the M40 motorway). A free shuttle bus will run half-hourly from and to High Wycombe. Bookings are preferred, although walk-ins will be accepted. When Bluestar did this in Southampton in 2023, they gave all First Bus staff who applied a contract start date of 19th February - the day they took over the services. This helped stabilise the staff situation by encouraging staff to stay with their existing employer until the changeover date, knowing they had a guaranteed job with their new employer. Although Arriva is not mentioned explicitly, I would expect similar to happen here. www.carouselbuses.co.uk/bus-driver-recruitment-day-2nd-June-2024

Immensely impressive how quickly and early (given it's 2 months away still) the timetables and maps have been made available to the public.... Interesting to see how the fleet is shuffled about.

That was where I stayed the night just after Christmas in 2018

I’m yet to see it but I have it on good authority that Carousel have register the Arriva routes and 35 buses from sister Go-Ahead companies will be coming over including B7RLEs and E200s.
There will be more developments from the 28th of this month; so will keep you guys posted.

According to Oxford Chilterns Bus Page, Carousel is in negotiations to take over Arriva's depot at Cressex in High Wycombe. Arriva doesn't own the freehold, but has a long lease on the property. ADL Enviro400 MMCs 608-614 will all be refurbished to Flightline 102 specification. 609 was the first to be treated and has already re-entered service, with 608 now away. www.oxford-chiltern-bus-page.co.uk/Weekly%20Briefing%20nr%20301%20230524.html

Planning a trip to Oxford tomorrow to be away from London with the cycling event.
What is the best routes to ride from the city centre that operate with conventional Diesel buses?
My plan is to use the Lizzie Line to Reading with my pass then take an X40 up. Is that a good idea?

I also believe one of the Oxford Bus Company routes that run between Oxford & Bicester use diesel buses

I regularly go up to Oxford to watch the Speedway, whilst I’m there, I park in the Unipart car park, OBC must have an agreement with Unipart as they use part of it for overflow parking. Usually I spot the training Citaro’s and the Airline coaches parked up. Tonight, amongst what I usually see, there were also a couple of Thames Travel Gemini’s and more interestingly, 2 First e200 MMC’s (didn’t catch fleet nos). When I was leaving (around 2200) one of the First e200’s appeared to be being prepped for service and had its front destination blind set for Flightline 102!

That will be the ex First Glasgow YW68 E200MMC batch that have gone off lease recently and did hear elsewhere that Carousel are taking at least some of them to cover the Arriva routes they will taking over.

Ah, I see. Thinking back, the one that had its blind set defo had a YW68 reg. Thanks for that.
