I notice from the latest route record that a new curtailment point has been introduced for route 161 at Chislehurst, High Street. Although the last stop is some way from the high street at the top of Red Hill, with buses then proceeding via Albany Road, Green Lane and Park Road. Wonder if Chislehurst, High Street is on the blinds already?

Out of interest does the latest Route Record say the 'blind display' should include the qualifier 'War Memorial' and 'High Street' or does it now just show Chislehurst.

It just says Chislehurst for the War Memorial, but Chislehurst, High Street for the curtailment.

Wonder if Chislehurst, High Street is on the blinds already? a) The top of Red Hill is not Chislehurst High Street. I wonder if, in practice, any High Street curtailers would take punters down to the first stop on Albany Road? b) I don’t fancy their chances of getting down Park Road most of the time. I know it’s a standard diversion route but the parking at the High Street end means it can often be extremely difficult to get down there c) Going off on a tangent to this but I’ve just realised that Stagecoach have three services that terminate in Chislehurst. Each service terminates at a different point but all show Chislehurst on the destination blind. I think qualifiers would be entirely appropriate in this case

I agree about Park Road and the lack of qualifiers and I can't help wondering if this turn will prove to be more trouble than its worth. Years ago Ravensworth Road/ Dunkery Road was a curtailment for the 161.

Anyone else remember the Gordon Arms terminus at Chislehurst? To me, it was the craziest regular terminus on the LT red bus network, given the number of buses that were scheduled to terminate in the road(s) involved. The 228 was never a problem in itself, but the 227's regular two or three buses either on stand or blocking the road must have been a nightmare for local residents, particularly those few who owned cars. Dulwich Plough, now known as Dulwich Library, would be the nearest comparison I'm aware of.

I saw a 161 using this curtailment point today. Although the blinds were still showing just ‘Chislehurst’ the driver turned left into Albany Road and allowed passengers to alight at the stop outside St Patrick’s Church
