A couple of questions I'm hoping someone might be able to answer. Firstly I've moved to a new development in hackbridge and the website for said development states it will be getting a bus service on the estate. Does anyone know which service this would be as I can't see any service benefitting from going into the estate and secondly was there ever an S2 bus service in Sutton?

Ok thanks. Is that the reason they didn't use the service number? Always baffled me why you have an S1, S3 and an S4 but no 2.

Most likely as the other S routes in Stratford such as the S1 & S3 had been withdrawn before the S1, S3 & S4 started in Sutton. There was also a S7 running from Colliers Wood to Cheam Village.

There was also an S5 between Wallington, Beddington lane and Mitcham Common running hourly shopping hours only.

First I've heard of it *but* two things. 1. There is that new demand responsive service due in the Sutton area. Might be a reference to that. 2. We know that TfL are conducting a review of bus routes in the Sutton area. This is why the S4's contract expiry date was changed. They may be referring to a possible new route as part of the network review. The developers may we aware of plans if they've had to make a S106 payment to the local council for transport improvements. It would be in line with the Mayor's Transport Strategy for new housing in Outer London to get new bus services.

S7 was renumbered 470 (upon extension to Epsom) because people were apparently confusing S7 and 57 at Colliers Wood! Very different vehicle types on the two routes of course, but I suppose anyone unfamiliar with the local network wouldn't have known what sort of bus to expect.

Somewhere on the internet you'll probably find a picture of a Metro Scania on the S2 at Clapton Pond or, more precisely, IN Clapton Pond, at a time when the type was being evaluated along with the Leyland National. Guess which one failed the test!

Found out over the weekend that the said bus service to come onto the development is both the 127 and 151 in both directions.
