In fairness it would have been hard to suggest alternatives to the 19 with up to 4 changes needed end to end. I can't imagine many people travelling from Finsbury Park to Battersea Bridge on the 19, Piccadilly Line to South Ken and a 49 or 345 would be much quicker, but a 29 to Trafalgar Square and the 11 to Kings Road and walk or another bus from there would seem the quickest alternative? I imagine punters getting the 19 from Battersea[1] greatly benefit with the direct service going as far as at least Piccadilly and Chinatown for surrounding areas such as Leicester Square and Covent Gardens. For reasons like that if the 19 should ever be cut it should be from the Finsbury Park end with relevant adjustments to other bus services in that area. Also to bear in mind that unlike the Battersea terminus Finsbury Park has not one but two tube lines as alternatives to Islington, Holborn, Picadilly Circus, Green Park, Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge. A lot of the original cuts do seem to want to sever the south London[2] area from central London key points like Kings Cross (45/59), Oxford Street (137/159) and North London (19). Thankfully some cuts at least were cancelled [1] - south of Battersea Bridge in particular [2] - not forgetting East London's fated loss of the 48 mind you

Thankfully some cuts at least were cancelled [1] - south of Battersea Bridge in particular [2] - not forgetting East London's fated loss of the 48 mind you The Finsbury Park end is quite busy and would have to be replaced by something else such as an increase on the 4. From Islington to Kings Road the 19 is duplicated by the 22 or 38, many people have suggested that the 38 should be reduced and removing the 19 achieves the same thing whilst maintaining current levels of service to Victoria. The 22 is more than adequate between Green Park and Kings Road. If a service to and from Battersea Bridge is still justified then the 414 could possibly be rerouted there from South Ken via the 345 route. ** There are two threads running on the same subject. tangytango.proboards.com/thread/10735/central-london-bus-cuts-consultation
