Great to win the Cricket World Cup at last. The ending was pretty a dramatic one! Interestingly, England now become the only country to have won the Football, Rugby, and Cricket World Cups (with two of those three being won on home soil)

What a game and what an amazing finale........England win the World Cup, don't get to say that very often!
That deflection off Ben Stokes's bat to the boundary...... what were the chances of that happening?

That deflection off Ben Stokes's bat to the boundary...... what were the chances of that happening? Sometimes you need a bit of luck! I don’t recall ever having seen anything like it before. The whole ending to the match was unbelievable even down to the Super Over being drawn and the match being decided on boundaries! But it’s always fantastic to say ‘England win the World Cup!’ Now go and win the Ashes boys!

The most dramatic end to a game of cricket I’ve ever seen. That was absolutely incredible, even the super over was tied! It was nice to see England get a bit of luck for a change. Especially with Ben Stokes 6 that was caught on the boundary and the additional runs of his bat as he dived back to the crease. Epic.

Especially with Ben Stokes 6 that was caught on the boundary and the additional runs of his bat as he dived back to the crease. Epic. There have been some very exciting ends to one day cricket cup finals at Lord's over the years, but none like this. In the domestic Benson & Hedges Cup there was a spate of nailbiters in the 1980s, one of which I attended, in 1986. Kent (my team) v Middlesex. Middlesex batted first, made 199-7, par or a little above for the course in those days of no fielding restrictions i.e. every fielder could be on the boundary! Kent got to the final ball requiring three runs to win or two to tie, and here came the rub. I knew the regulations, and in the event of a tie the team losing the fewest wickets were declared winners: Kent had also lost seven wickets, so, after that, you looked at the 40 over score, then 30 over score. Now, I'd bought a scorecard on which you could note the score at the end of each over and, almost unbelievably, each team had scored the same number of runs and lost the same number of wickets at those stages too! In the event, Kent's nemesis John Emburey, a bowler who bowled flat offspin for both Middlesex and England and whom no English batsman ever managed to get on top of, did his usual and the Kent batsmen attempted to steal a leg bye but one got run out in the process: Middx won by two runs. The following year there was a tie, but one side had lost one wicket fewer and was declared the winner, but I didn't witness that one.

What an amazing performance by Ben stokes today to draw level with Australia in the ashes. Couldn’t agree more. That performance from Stokes will live long in the memory but don’t forget Jack Leach. He may only have been 1* but his innings was just as important as the one from Stokes. These past two Tests have just underlined why I love Test Cricket so much - what unbelievable drama!
