I think they should be legalised. If they’re not legal for the road or for the pavement then where else can you ride it aside from paths!? In some certain circumstances, I think riding it on the pavement is more safer as long as they’re not going at full speed IMO.

I actually have one of these scooters and they are brilliant. Much quicker than taking a bus and they’re zero emissions. Hopefully they’re legalised soon.

Mr Grumpy here - I think they are dangerous and a menace well in my local area anyway. They drive on local roads often on the wrong side, cut across out of nowhere. Seen a few using cycle lanes too, they seem a bit too speedy IMO.
Can't see them being regulated, probably a passing phase like those hoverboard things a few years ago.

Get them to pay road tax and get compulsory insurance, then I would not have a problem with them being on the road.

Yeah it works in NL and other European countries because they have decent laws and law enforcement unlike in UK where 80% of people don't even know how to use motorway properly or just follow simple traffic rules on normal roads. UK has crappy if almost no laws on how to cycle correctly (no requirements to wear helmet, hi vis and so on) - Which is strictly enforced in europe, police actually patrol streets and pull cyclists over for lacking 1-2 reflectors on wheels and so on, or no helmet or no hivis and they're heavily fined...meanwhile in UK even mopeds can drive with temporary license and they can play on the phone at traffic lights, nothing is enforced here...but come some petition and straight away UK can agree on yet another stupid law which allows people to 'drive' on roads with no knowledge of how to do it properly and people are gonna die. Man UK is literally clueless when it comes to policing any sort of vehicle on the road.
