I love Canals and guess many people on here are also enthusiastic about canals. I particularly enjoy the Grand Union canal between Willesden Junction and Paddington. Really interesting scenic stretch of the canal which I would thoroughly reccomend to anyone. The scenery along the canal in that are is interesting and Old Oak Common is interesting to explore now prior to HS2 coming in and gentrifying the area, great views of the Crossrail depot there. A really pleasant way to spend a weekend which I loved.
If you have anything about canals; history, hobbies, stretches you like etc. please share on this thread.

I like the regents canal around between Paddington and Camden and the Lea Valley there is a big contrast between the two!

Every time I look out my kitchen window I get to see the Grand Union Canal (or the Cut as my dad calls it!) Spent many a day over the years fishing with dad along the stretch between Stockley and West Drayton, usually watching him trounce me in what he catches compared to my measly haul! My favorite stretch is between Uxbridge and Harefield, quite often get on my bike and take a leisurely cycle along that bit, taking in the countryside and stopping off at the Coy Carp for a few beers before returning home! Did used to like going along the Slough Arm as a teenager, until one day a couple of mates got mouthy to a load of travellers!, luckily we got the jump on them as they came back with quadruple the amount of us (weaponed up as well!) Never pedalled a bike so hard in my life!
Have been watching a programme called Travels by Narrowboat on Amazon Prime (he also posts on YouTube) over the course of the year, by a chap who goes by the name of Country House Gent and his narrowboat Aslan. He's been going round the canal's in the northeast & west of the UK so far, hopefully he'll head down sough soon! He gives an excellent insight on what life is like living on the Canals and I've found it a thoroughly enjoyable watch so far!
After watching the said programme, I'd love to pay a visit to the Llangollen Canal up in Wales, especially just to cross the impressive Pontcysylite Aqueduct, which I believe is the highest Aqueduct in the world!

Canals are great as they offer something different for everyone, whether you're enjoying a relaxing walk/sit down by the canal or you're going out on a bike ride or running along it.
I recently went along the Grand Union Canal cycling from London to Windsor was a very pleasant trip although unfortunately the weather wasn't exactly on my side. My plan is one time to do full route up to Birmingham.
