Controversial post alert!
Can't help but feel Boris is using more diversion tactics with his latest move!
Covid: Self-isolation law could be scrapped in England this month
Things are in a really good place at the moment with no restrictions apart from the needs to isolate if you test positive.
I think personally its too soon to scrap the need to isolate and could lead to the virus being spread needlessly.

Whilst there may be an element of political game-playing, concerning the timing of the announcement, there had already been talk of self-isolating ending in March. I know several people who have tested positive recently and they have all had either mild symptoms, or none at all. They certainly felt as if they could have carried on with daily life. There is (rightly) concern about the impact on people who are immuno-compromised and who could still become seriously ill if exposed to covid. However they are also at risk from other infections, such as colds and flu.

He is playing with fire... another "Dead Cat" to distract from his 'Questionnaire' from plod... he thinks the virus has gone, there's talk of DeltaCron as the two Covid strains combine. He is keen to keep the economy going and keep the spotlight off him, hence the heroics I Ukraine, where he's playing a dangerous game with Putin. The police have enough evidence for prosecution, had it been one of us with a Lockdown party, we could have been looking at a hefty fine. The fact it was TWELVE parties shows how much he stuck his fingers up at everyone who has suffered over 2 years. No clear advice over how return to work will be done, but we've seen Boris in action as Mayor and nothing really worked then

He could well be, but I would say good riddance to this nonsense. Is the science proven that this self isolation actually has bought numbers down. I could understand in 2020 when people were more strict over it. 2 years on, many are not following it and meeting others or still going out to the shops etc when they are meant to be isolating. A lot of people have been recently doing it to get time off work and it has been opened to blatant abuse since the lateral flow tests have been used in favour of pcr.

It's about time to get rid of masks wearing on public transport and get back to a sort of normal.

It's about time to get rid of masks wearing on public transport and get back to a sort of normal. My personal view is this is a big gamble and could back fire. My concern about today’s announcements is the removal of free tests. I don’t believe for one second the government was spending 2 billion a month on tests! Yes maybe in January when there was record cases but not other months. Just imagine from Thursday people now have to decide if they self isolate or go to work with Covid.

I also wonder if it will be easier to see a GP now or will they be still in lockdown.

I agree on the on the test front another load of BS from Boris all he is doing is making money out of us. What else are we supposed to do we all can't stay at home forever.

I'm not offended at all it's your life you can do whatever you want regarding masks. I haven't worn one throughout the last 2 years I'm not anti mask by the way I'm medically exempt.

It's about time to get rid of masks wearing on public transport and get back to a sort of normal. Yep, not once convinced the things worked in the first place. Not sure I agree with the isolation or withdrawing of free tests - you should stay home whilst sick anyway, but testing if you feel off is a good idea, I’ve personally done it when I caught the omicron, and isolated earlier when my housemate tested positive. (right during summer, d*mn it!) I will continue to do so not just for covid but colds and flus.

No that’s fair enough, I only wear it on public transport, certain shops and on the shop floor at work
