The 199 did me over on Saturday as well - missed one 80* series bus, waited for the next one and it turned into a 47 upon leaving the garage, had no interest in going up into the City so left it Its funny you mention this, I've been trying for one on the 47 as it's just down the road from work and I've never had any luck. The closest I got was missing it by a few minutes. I’ll probably regret that decision further down the line but I didn’t want to stay out too long

An update about the Stagecoach and National Express merger: there's a few ways we could take this 1- looks like it's going to happen, taking extra time to smooth out anything 2- it probably won't happen as there's too many difficulties to overcome 3- they're discussing exactly what to do with Lea Interchange

A lot of examining the company books to establish the true values.

There is also the Stagecoach Midlands ops to consider as they do run in Coventry which is a big area for NatEx. I personally would expect Megabus to have to sold to satisfy the CMA or scaled back to key routes that NatEx don’t operate on with the remainder either sold off or closed down entirely. Both are huge companies so it’s not surprising to see a delay in a formal offer. Although too long and another company might swoop in and make an offer.

What proportion of West Ham garage was sold off? Is the licenced capacity of 234 vehicles still correct?

Stagecoach hasn’t really had good press recently. Although the incident today was possibly a medical episode, it shouldn’t detract from the fact that driver fatigue is a serious problem in the bus industry yet the bus companies and the press refuse to acknowledge it, how many more accidents must happen before something is done?
Some weeks drivers can be rostered to work 50hrs+ a week and can work up to potentially 13 days in a row. If you call in sick citing “fatigue” you can expect a disciplinary so drivers are even too scared to admit they aren’t fit to drive a bus.

There are regulations on driver hours - are you saying they don't go far enough? On the converse side there are drivers who will work as many hours as possible because the overtime payments are lucrative - how do you address the issue of loss of earnings if you require these drivers to work fewer hours?
