So us enthusiasts can hopefully report we saw T279 on the 279 😁 Isn't that one of the 60 batch? As stated on flickr, its had a refurb, believe this batch, T279-287 are being done at the accident repair centre based at E. These are for the 412/685.

What a waste if thats the case. I, always wondered why they never use Volvo Beddington for Refurbs and Alexander Dennis at Harlow..

CN & the repair centre closed in March 2012 after the 19/249/455 contracts were lost on tender - which displaced enough room for a garage, in this case Beddington, to close. They have previously used ADL for refurbs - I think some of the 60 plate HVs were done by them. Volvo don't offer refurbishments at Beddington.

Yes, im aware of the above but TC did have that specialist Facility from its rebuild in the 50s. Volvo Brimsdown do Refurbs as does AD Harlow so why on earth they do not use them baffles me considering they have a long long backlog of buses to do at Tottenham and South Croydon.

Probably to do with cost, I wouldn't be too surprised if ADL and Volvo don't do refurbs at a cheap price as opposed to specialist companies that specialise in bus refurbishment such as Hants&Dorset and Thorntons.

ADL & Volvo can both do them but as you say it may be cost!

TC are the FFD testing centre for Arriva London South so I believe the “ top dock” at the rear is used for this purpose

But it was also away between 3rd September and 8th October so if we can assume the refurb took place then what was the reason for the visit to E this time? Is it that the internal refurb and paint jobs are done at separate times?
